C-Suite Moves: September update

Here are the major leadership changes that occurred during August, starting with the most recent. (All changes have already taken effect unless otherwise noted.) 

Elina Villk was named the chief business officer of David’s Bridal. She most recently served as chief marketing officer at Hootsuite and WooCommerce, and held previous marketing roles at Meta, PayPal, Visa and Yahoo.

Former Nike executive Elliott Hill returns to take the reins of the athletic footwear and apparel giant on Oct. 13. He replaces John Donahoe who has served as CEO since January 2020.  Throughout the course of his 30-plus years career at Nike, Hill, who retired in 2020, held senior leadership positions across Europe and North America.

Jim Lee has been appointed CFO of Target Corp. He joins the discounter with more than 25 years of experience in finance, strategy, team and culture leadership at PepsiCo. At Target, Lee succeeds Michael Fiddelke, who was named COO in February but continued to serve as CFO until a replacement was named.

Michael Conway, CEO of Starbucks North America, will retire on Nov. 30. The company veteran was appointed to the newly created role in April.

Teen apparel and footwear retailer Tilly’s, Inc. named Hezy Shaked, the company’s co-founder and executive chairman of the board, as president and CEO. Shaked had been serving as interim chief since January, following the retirement of longtime president and CEO Ed Thomas.

Ross Stores promoted Karen Fleming to president and chief merchandising officer of Ross Dress for Less, effective Dec. 1. She is currently president and chief merchandising officer of the closeout retailer’s DD’s Discounts banner. 

Franco Fogliato was named CEO of Fossil Group Inc. He succeeds interim chief Jeffrey Boyer, who has resumed his previous role as COO. Fogliato joined Fossil from Salomon, a sports equipment and apparel manufacturer owned by Amer Sports Inc., where he has served as president and CEO since November 2021. 

 •Aaron Cho is the new CFO of Eyemart Express. He joined the company from medical equipment provider Synapse Health.

Upon exiting from bankruptcy, Rite Aid tapped company veteran Matt Schroeder as its new CEO. Schroeder, who joined the chain in 2000, has served as CFO since 2019. 

James Langrock was appointed CFO of 1-800-Flowers, effective Dec. 29, replacing longtime executive Bill Shea who is retiring. Prior to joining the company in April, Langrock held the position of CFO at several companies, including Charcuterie Artisans, The Hain Celestial Group and Monster Worldwide, Inc.
