C-Suite Moves: June update
Here are the major C-suite changes that occurred in June, starting with the most recent. (All changes have already taken effect unless otherwise noted.)
•Apparel and lifestyle retailer Lands' End named retail and tech veteran Charlie Cole as CEO, effective July 13. He will succeed Andrew McLean, who is stepping down.
•Genesco Inc. parent company of Journeys and other brands, appointed Jonathan Collins as senior VP, finance and CFO, effective Aug. 3. Most recently, he served as finance chief of used car dealership chain America’s Car-Mart Inc.
•Cesar Gueikian will step down as president and CEO of Gibson Inc. and transition into a new role as strategic advisor to the board, effective July 31. Anne Rohosy, Gibson's chief commercial officer, will serve as interim president and CEO while the company searches for a permanent chief.
•David M. Denton will join Nike Inc. as executive vice president and CFO, effective Aug. 17. He will succeed Matthew Friend, who has served in the position since April 2020 and spent more than 17 with the company. Denton joins Nike from Pfizer Inc., where he has served as chief financial officer since May 2022.
•Matt Bilunas, who has served as CFO of Best Buy for the past seven years, will depart the company at the end of July. In total, he spent 20 years with the company. Best Buy is conducting a search for his successor.
•Claire Peters has been tapped as CEO of Ahold Delhaize USA, effective Sept. 8. Peters spent two years as VP of Worldwide Fresh at Amazon from 2023-2025, where she had responsibility for the North American and international business.
•Five Below named Rodney Lastinger as chief retail officer and Christos Yatrakis as chief legal officer. Most recently, Lastinger served as COO at GNC since December 2024. Yatrakis joins Five Below after having served as chief people & legal officer for Allbirds for the past two years.
•Elliott Rodgers was named COO of Kohl’s, effective Sept. 9. Most recently, Rodgers was COO of Foot Locker.
•Legendary designer and former Target collaborator Isaac Mizrahi is returning to the discounter as its first-ever creative director at large. In the new role, he will serve as a creative advisor to Target's internal design organization and mentor design talent.
•Chris Hurt has assumed the role of chief executive of Build-A-Bear Workshop following the departure of longtime leader Sharon Price John, who subsequently was named CEO of Carter’s Inc.
•Dollar General promoted Tom Hutchins to senior VP and chief technology officer, and Travis Nixon to senior VP, chief data and artificial intelligence (AI) officer.
•Sam’s Club named Steve Schrobilgen as incoming COO and executive VP following the retirement of Tom Ward. Schrobilgen most recently served as COO, end-to-end for Walmart Canada, overseeing operations, supply chain, real estate and format. Prior to his roles at Walmart, he spent over 30 years at Sam’s Club in various positions.
