  • July busy month for Sam’s Club and superhero selfies

    Sam’s Club opened three new locations this month including locations near Chicago, Fort Worth and Wichita, Kan., that pushed its club count to 630 units.

  • Report: Sycamore in early discussion to acquire Fred’s

    New York -- Sycamore Partners is in early discussion with Fred’s about a potential takeover, Reuters reported.

    In January, Fred's disclosed it had hired Bank of America Corp. and Peter J. Solomon Co to explore strategic alternatives after disappointing holiday sales.

    According to the report, at least one other party in also in talks with Fred's.

     

  • Major Western restaurant player to open five Utah PizzaRev locations

    Salt Lake City -- PizzaRev franchisee group Away We Dough, Inc. is opening Utah’s first PizzaRev – a build-your-own artisanal pizza concept with roots in Southern California.

    The new West Valley restaurant is the first of five franchise locations planned to open in Utah in the next six months.

    Away We Dough is part of William Tell, Inc. based in Salt Lake City, which owns and operates 18 Applebee’s and eight Famous Dave’s in Utah and Washington.

  • Empire State Realty Trust acquires two N.Y. leases for $734 million

    New York - Empire State Realty Trust, Inc. (ESRT), a New York-based real estate investment trust, has completed the acquisition of the ground and operating leases at 112 West 34th Street and the ground lease at 1400 Broadway for a total of approximately $734 million in cash, common stock and operating partnership units. 112 West 34th Street is a 26-story, 650,769-rentable-sq.-ft.office tower, with 92,455-sq.-ft. of retail space located in the 34th Street/Penn Station submarket.

  • Pottery Barn, Pottery Barn Kids enter Philippines

    San Francisco – Pottery Barn and Pottery Barn Kids opened stores Tuesday, July 15 at Central Square, Bonifacio High Street, a premier retail destination in Manila, Philippines. As part of parent company William-Sonoma Inc.’s strategic global expansion, these stores are the first Pottery Barn and Pottery Barn Kids locations in Southeast Asia.

  • Belk to make Juban Crossing debut this summer

    Denham Springs, La. — Belk will open a 75,000-sq.-ft. store in Denham Springs, Louisiana, near Baton Rouge, that will become the first department store anchor at the regional lifestyle center at Juban Crossing. The grand opening is slated for October 15.

    The new, $7-million store will feature the latest retail design and décor for the Charlotte, North Carolina chain.

  • DDR announces grand opening of Seabrook Commons

    Beachwood, Ohio — DDR announced the grand opening of Seabrook Commons, the company’s most recent ground-up development project located in Seabrook, New Hampshire, a northern suburb of the Boston MSA.

    The 380,000-sq.-ft. power center is 96% leased, anchored by Walmart, Dick's Sporting Goods, PetSmart, Michaels, ULTA, Famous Footwear and Five Below, and features a complementary restaurant lineup that includes Panera, Outback Steakhouse and Noodles & Company.

  • Noodles & Co. to open at Levee District

    East Peoria, Ill. -- Cullinan Properties said that Noodles & Company will be opening a new restaurant in November at the Levee District in East Peoria, Illinois.
