  • Forever 21 to open big in Miami Beach

    New York City -- Fast-fashion retailer Forever 21 will open a three-level, 39,000-sq.-ft. store in Miami Beach, Fla., Women’s Wear Daily reported.

    The store, scheduled to open this fall, will be located on Lincoln Road. Also heading to Lincoln Road is H&M, which plans to open a 22,000 sq. ft. in the pedestrian mall.
     

  • Cabela’s expands in Canada

    Sidney, Neb. -- Cabela’s will open a store Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Canada, in spring 2012. The 50,000-sq.-ft. store will be Cabela’s third store in Canada, joining locations in Winnipeg, Manitoba, a former S.I.R. Warehouse Sports Store acquired and converted in 2008, and Edmonton, Alberta, to open late this summer.

  • Citadel Outlets expands, adds stores

    Los Angeles -- Citadel Outlets, Los Angeles's only outlet shopping mall, announced that Tilly's, The Children's Place and U.S. Polo Assn opened in March.

    The Children's Place (4,994 sq. ft.) opened on March 29 next to Nautica. Tilly's (5,162 sq. ft.) opened March 21, and the new U.S. Polo Assn. store (3,258 sq. ft.) opened March 9 next to Justice. 

    In other center news, Rockport opened up its doors in February, Sprockets Kids relocated within the center, and Hurley, Van's and Bass remodeled and expanded their existing stores.

  • Jones Lang LaSalle to lease and manage Kirkwood Mall

    Bismarck, N.D. -- Chicago-based Jones Lang LaSalle announced that it has been named as the new property and leasing manager for Kirkwood Mall, an 845,000-sq.-ft. enclosed mall in Bismarck, N.D., by an affiliate of Radiant Partners that recently purchased the mall from Metropolitan Life Insurance Co.

    Kirkwood Mall was built in 1970 and contains 80 shops, anchored by Herberger’s, I. Keating Furniture World, J.C. Penney, Scheels and Target.
     

  • The Wilder Cos. awarded contract for Wayside Commons

    Boston -- The Wilder Cos. said it has been awarded the leasing and management contract for Wayside Commons, an open-air shopping center in Burlington, Mass.

    The contract was awarded by UBS Realty Investors of Hartford, Conn.

    Wayside Commons is a 195,100-sq.-ft. outdoor center home to one of only three full-line, 30,000-sq.-ft. signature L.L. Bean stores in Massachusetts as well as a mix of retailers including Arhaus Furniture, Coldwater Creek, Eileen Fisher Company Store, Stellabella Toys and Capital Grille.

  • Aaron’s partners with Buxton for expansion strategy

    Fort Worth, Texas -- Aaron’s has formed a partnership with Buxton, a customer analytics firm, to assist with the retailer’s market expansion and analytics strategy.

  • Dish Network wins auction, acquiring Blockbuster for $228 million

    New York City -- Satellite TV company Dish Network Corp. said Wednesday that it won the auction for Blockbuster with a bid valued at $228 million in cash. The transaction, expected to close the deal during the second quarter, needs bankruptcy court approval.

    As of Tuesday, Dish, investor Carl Icahn and a group of debt holders were the three remaining bidders for the Dallas movie-rental chain, which filed for Chapter 11 in September.

  • Walgreens opens at Mendota Plaza

    Mendota Heights, Minn. -- St. Paul, Minn.-based Paster Enterprises announced that the new Walgreens at Mendota Plaza in Mendota Heights, Minn., is officially open.  

    The 14,820-sq.-ft. Walgreens is a new prototype featuring, in addition to exterior design enhancements, improved aisle graphics, more accessible shelving, polished concrete floors and an updated photo finishing area.
