  • DDR launches effort to recapture anchor stores

    Beachwood, Ohio – Shopping center operator DDR Corp. is commencing a multi-year proactive lease termination initiative aimed at recapturing high-quality anchor store locations across its portfolio. Through this initiative, DDR is collaborating with retailers in the books, electronics, toys, office and traditional department store categories to right-size their real estate footprints by regaining control of locations in advance of natural lease expiration.

  • Simon completes spin-off of Washington Prime

    Indianapolis — Simon Property Group has completed the separation of Washington Prime Group Inc., which is now an independent public company that will be traded on the New York Stock Exchange under the symbol “WPG.”

    Washington Prime holds interests in 98 retail assets, including the strip center business formerly owned by Simon.
     

     

  • New Claudette restaurant leases Fifth Avenue site

    New York — Restaurateurs Carlos Suarez and Mark Barak, known for their two popular eateries, Bobo and Rosemary’s, have taken space for a new Provencal restaurant to be called Claudette in New York City.

    Located at 24 Fifth Avenue close to Washington Square Park, Union Square and New York University, the 2,409-sq.-ft. restaurant, which includes 2,044 sq. ft. in the basement, features menus from Chef Wade Moises and Chef de Cuisine Koren Grieveson that focus on local produce, seafood and North African aromatics.

  • Report: New retail space planned for Napa, California

    Napa, Calif. – Construction on a new 4,800-sq.-ft. retail space known as Solano Plaza could begin in Napa, California, as early as spring 2015. According to the Napa Valley Register, the single-story building will hold up to four new retailers and face an existing retail plaza.

    The site was formerly occupied by a gas station and has been decontaminated. Gerry and Betsy D’Adamo, who have owned the parcel for 40 years, are developing the new plaza, which will include new landscaping and signage.
     

  • Lids, Haggar opens at Legends Outlets Kansas City

    Kansas City, Kan. — Lids and Haggar Clothing Co. will open at Legends Outlets Kansas City in Kanas City, Kansas, over the Memorial Day weekend. Lids will occupy a 1,368-sq.-ft. space, and Haggar has taken 2,476-sq. ft.

    The new tenants will join other recent new tenants including Woody’s Automotive, sweetFrog, Pizza Studio, Bath & Body Works, Nail Envy and Coach Factory.
     

  • Designed by Baltimore’s DDG, Mall of Istanbul opens

    Baltimore — The Mall of Istanbul opened today in Istanbul, Turkey. The 34.5-acre mixed-use development features 2.1 million sq. ft. of retail space, 1.4 million sq. ft. of residential space and 322,600 sq. ft. of office space.

    Baltimore-based DDG won the design contract for the mall in 2009 in an international competition.

  • KeyPoint Partners earns three new assignments

    Burlington, Mass. — KeyPoint Partners has added three new property management and leasing assignments to its portfolio. The firm will manage and lease Walnut Hill Plaza, a 298,000-sq.-ft. retail center in Woonsocket, R.I., and Summit Square, a 133,900-sq.-ft.-retail center in Warwick, R.I.

    In addition, KeyPoint will manage the 97,000-sq.-ft. Harbor Village in Townsend, Mass.

  • Two new tenants for CoolSprings Galleria in Nashville

    Chattanooga, Tenn. — The Cheesecake Factory and Island Purveyor featuring Tommy Bahama have taken space at CoolSprings Galleria in Nashville, Tenn., according to the center’s owner CBL & Associates Properties. Both plan to open later this year.

    The new tenants are part of CBL’s redevelopment and expansion plans for the 1.1 million-sq.-ft. super regional shopping center anchored by Belk, Dillard’s, J.C. Penney and Macy’s.
