Levin: Retail leasing remains strong through summer
North Plainfield, N.J. — Retail leasing activity remained strong through the spring and summer months of 2013, according to Levin Management, which reports more than 295,000 sq. ft. of renewals and transactions from Easter through Labor Day. The company’s portfolio includes 90 properties totaling 12.5 million sq. ft. of space in New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, Virginia and North Carolina.
“Following 2012’s marked improvement in leasing volume, 2013 has seen a continuation of that momentum,” said Michael Cohen, Levin Management’s VP leasing. “We are seeing demand from national, local and franchise companies. The category base reflects broad variety as well, with restaurants, apparel, pet supplies, gyms and person services tenants among the most active tenant types — following several years in which value-oriented retailers dominated.”
