  • The Dump opens Lombard, Ill., furniture outlet

    Lombard, Ill. — The Dump is opening a new 134,000-sq.-ft. furniture outlet location in Lombard, Ill., today.

     Official opening festivities began at 8:30 a.m. CT with a ribbon-cutting ceremony that will be followed by musical acts.

  • Kimco Realty installing electric vehicle charging stations at seven centers

    New York -- Kimco Realty and NRG eVgo, part of NRG Energy, opened the Bay Area’s first electric vehicle charging station, at Westlake Shopping Center, Daly City, Calif.

  • NYC’s new Pier 57 complex renamed SuperPier

    New York -- Youngwoo & Associates (YWA) announced that the Pier 57 development at West 15th Street in Hudson River Park, Manhattan will now be officially known as SuperPier. Constructed in 1952, Pier 57 was an engineering marvel, built on three giant buoyant and hollow concrete boxes, or concrete caissons. Described as indestructible, it was dubbed “Super Pier” when it opened.

  • Modell’s opens new Long Island stores

    New York — Modell’s Sporting Goods will celebrate the grand opening of two new stores in Long Island today. The stores are located in the Huntington Shopping Center and Fivetowns Shopping Center.

    The new stores will boost the company’s store-count to 155.

     

  • Brooks Brothers makes itself at home in San Francisco’s Union Square

    Brooks Brothers has opened a flagship store location in San Francisco. At 26,000 sq. ft., Brooks Brothers at Union Square is the second largest retail location in North America.

  • Whole Foods Market announces plans for store on Chicago’s South Side

    Chicago -- Whole Foods Market plans to open an 18,000-sq.-ft. store on Chicago’s South Side, in the impoverished Englewood neighborhood, in 2015. The store will be built as part of a larger development at the northwest corner of South Halsted and West 63rd Streets. The retail portion of the site is being developed by DL3.

  • DSW announces two new store openings

    Columbus, Ohio — DSW has opened two new footwear, handbag and accessories stores, one in Norman, Okla., and a second in Victor, N.Y.

    The new stores bring the total number of DSW stores to 379. Locations include 42 states, the District of Columbia and Puerto Rico.

     

  • Cycle Gear opens first Wisconsin store

    Benicia, Calif. — Cycle Gear Inc. has announced the chain’s first Wisconsin store in Brookfield, a suburb of Milwaukee. With this new location, Cycle Gear now operates more than 100 stores in 29 states.

    The Brookfield store is now open now and will have a grand opening celebration from Sept. 13 to Sept. 15 featuring sales and vendor appearances.
