  • LA Fitness to open at Old Town Shopping Center

    Dallas -- Venture Commercial said that LA Fitness has signed a long-term lease to build a 45,000-sq.-ft. facility in the Old Town Shopping Center in Dallas, on the site of a former Borders bookstore.

    LA Fitness has begun razing the existing building on behalf of the landlord, preparing the site for construction of a new prototype club, which is expected to open around the end of the year.

  • Real estate vets launch A&G Realty Partners

    Melville, N.Y. – Former founding partners of DJM Realty Andrew Graiser and Emilio Amendola announced Monday they have launched A&G Realty Partners, a commercial real estate consulting, advisory and investment group.

    A&G will offer a comprehensive set of services that address both common and complex industry issues.

  • Inland Real Estate Acquisitions acquires South Elgin Commons

    Elgin, Ill. – Oak Brook, Ill.- based Inland Real Estate Acquisitions has announced the acquisition of South Elgin Commons, a 128,000-sq.-ft. shopping center in Elgin, Ill., for approximately $25 million.

    The property was 100% leased at closing and is anchored by Ross Dress for Less, Toys “R” Us and LA Fitness.

  • REI to make Kansas debut with store in Overland Park

    Seattle -- REI (Recreational Equipment, Inc.) said Tuesday it will make its state debut in Kansas in fall 2013, with a new store in Overland Park, Kan., a suburb of Kansas City.

    The 23,500-sq.-ft. REI Overland Park will be located at Prairiefire at Lionsgate. Approximately 50-60 new hires are planned.
     

  • Starwood Capital acquires seven Westfield shopping centers

    Greenwich, Conn. -- Private investment firm Starwood Capital Group announced that an affiliate of Starwood has completed its acquisition of a 90% majority interest in seven U.S. shopping centers from the Westfield Group.

    Westfield retained a 10% minority interest in the portfolio.

    Starwood also announced that it has formed a new subsidiary, Starwood Retail Partners, to be based in Chicago, to oversee the management of the newly acquired assets and has named Scott Wolstein, co-founder of DDR, as its CEO. 

  • Rock’N Babies opens at Plaza Sonora

    Tucson, Ariz. -- Commercial Real Estate Advisors said that Rock’N Babies has relocated its store to Plaza Sonora, located in Tucson, Ariz.

    The new 1,800-sq.-ft. resale boutique opened July 1.

     

  • Fresh Market closing in on first California stores

    Greensboro, N.C. -- High-end grocer The Fresh Market is making a stand in California, as it prepares to open its first three stores in the state.

    According to a Tuesday report by Investor’s Business Daily, Fresh Market has signed leases and begun construction on one store in Santa Barbara, one in Palo Alto and a third in Roseville. The grocer said it expects to open its first store in the state either late this year or early 2013.

  • Baskins Western and Work Wear continues expansion with 3 new stores

    Austin, Texas -- Dallas-based SRS Real Estate Partners said that three new store locations have been finalized for Baskins Western and Work Wear in Baton Rouge, La.; Lafayette, La.; and Katy, Texas. 

    The new stores will include 12,000 to 15,000 sq. ft., and will bring the western apparel retail chain to 28 total locations.
