  • Olympia Sports continues southern expansion

    Westbrook, Maine -- Olympia Sports announced it has recently surpassed its 200th location and has begun a march south and west from its home state of Maine.

    The company plans to open 25 stores during its current fiscal year, including its first store in West Virginia and others in states south of New York. A similar pace of expansion is expected for the following fiscal year beginning in October, said Olympia.

  • Baskins Western and Work Wear continues expansion with 3 new stores

    Austin, Texas -- Dallas-based SRS Real Estate Partners said that three new store locations have been finalized for Baskins Western and Work Wear in Baton Rouge, La.; Lafayette, La.; and Katy, Texas. 

    The new stores will include 12,000 to 15,000 sq. ft., and will bring the western apparel retail chain to 28 total locations.

  • Bed, Bath & Beyond tender offer for Cost Plus shares is successful

    Union, N.J. -- Bed Bath & Beyond Inc. announced that its tender offer for the outstanding shares of common stock of Cost Plus was successful.

    The company said Friday that about 20.8 million shares representing about 92% of Cost Plus' outstanding stock were tendered. The company currently has approximately 22.5 million outstanding shares, according to FactSet.

    Cost Plus will become a Bed Bath & Beyond subsidiary and will stop trading on the Nasdaq the first business day after the deal closes.

  • Nordstrom wants to be a part of New York, New York

    NEW YORK — With the Nordstrom name often associated with high fashion, it is surprising that the retailer does not already have a flagship in New York City. In 2018, however, that will all change when the first full-line Nordstrom's store opens in the Columbus Circle area of Manahttan.

    The store is being built by Extell Development Company and will occupy 285,000 square feet.

  • Five new retailers to open at Naperville Crossings

    Naperville, Ill. -- Oakbrook Terrace-based Mid-America Asset Management said that five retailers have been signed at Naperville Crossings in Naperville, Ill., totaling nearly 9,400 sq. ft. In addition, three retailers have recently renewed at the center totaling 4,200 sq. ft.

    Tide Dry Cleaners leased 3,260 sq. ft. with plans to open a drive-thru dry cleaning service in the first quarter of 2013, becoming the first location in Illinois.

  • Ritz Camera files for bankruptcy; to close 128 stores

    New York -- Ritz Camera & Image has filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection. As part of its restructuring, the company, which has 265 stores in 34 states, plans to close 128 locations and cut its staff of 2,000 in half.

    This is the second time Ritz has sought protection under the bankruptcy laws, having emerged from Chapter 11 two years ago.

  • 7-Eleven completes acquisition of 18 Open Pantry stores

    Dallas -- 7-Eleven announced that it has completed a transaction to acquire 18 Open Pantry convenience store locations in Wisconsin, primarily in the greater Milwaukee and Madison markets. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

  • Fairway Supermarket opens in Woodland Park, N.J.

    New Rochelle, N.Y. -- X Team partner Welco Realty said that Fairway Supermarket has opened a new store at Plaza 46 shopping center, in Woodland Park, N.J.

    The 63,000-sq.-ft. store is the chain’s 10th store, all located in the northeastern United States.
