  • Verizon to open in Dress Barn Plaza

    Norwalk, Conn. -- Charter Realty & Development said that it has arranged a 2,350-sq.-ft. lease for Verizon located in the Dress Barn Plaza in Norwalk, Conn.

    Dress Barn Plaza also contains Dress Barn and Dress Woman. Verizon will be relocating and expanding from a nearby location.

  • New mixed-use project to deliver retail near major ballpark

    Washington, D.C. -- Grosvenor Americas and Skanska USA Commercial Development have announced plans for a mixed-use project of more than 650,000 sq. ft. directly north of the new Washington Nationals ballpark in the Capitol Riverfront district of Washington, DC.
         

  • Walmart Canada to grand-open 30 stores in October

    Mississauga, Ontario -- Walmart Canada said Tuesday it will complete 30 real estate projects by the end of October, including two supercenter conversions and 28 new stores totaling 2.4 million sq. ft. of retail space.

    The new stores were former Zellers locations; 10 will be converted to supercenters and 18 will be Walmart Canada discount stores.

    “This is an exciting month for Walmart Canada,” said Jim Thompson, COO, Walmart Canada.

  • Inland Diversified acquires City Center at White Plains through JV

    White Plains, N.Y. -- Oak Brook, Ill.-based Inland Diversified Real Estate Trust announced the acquisition of a majority interest in City Center at White Plains, a four-story, 381,905-sq.-ft. mixed-use shopping center and apartment property in White Plains, N.Y.

    The property was acquired in a joint venture between a subsidiary of Inland Diversified and affiliates of real estate developer Cappelli Group. The joint venture valued the property at approximately $166.4 million.

  • Garrison acquires 13-property retail portfolio

    New York -- Garrison Investment Group said Tuesday it has acquired a 13-property portfolio totaling 1.7 million sq. ft. of neighborhood and community shopping centers in Ohio and Indiana. The seller is Kimco Realty Corp.

    The 13 properties feature retailers such as T.J. Maxx, Giant Eagle, Kroger, Bed Bath & Beyond and Home Depot.

    Garrison engaged Cincinnati-based Select Strategies Realty manage and lease the properties.

  • Report: H&M headed to Times Square

    New York -- Hennes & Mauritz AB has cut a deal to open in Manhattan’s Times Square, the New York Post reported.

    According to the report, H&M will move into the three-floor, 42,510-sq.-ft. space at 4 Times Square that was previously occupied by the restaurant ESPN Zone. The space, which has been vacant for some two years, includes two huge billboards that wrap above the store’s facade along Broadway and West 42nd Street.

     

  • Barneys to close store in NorthPark Center, Dallas

    New York -- Barneys New York will close its 88,000-sq.-ft. store in NorthPark Center, Dallas. It will remain open until April 2013.

    "After careful consideration, Barneys New York has exercised its contractual right to terminate the lease for its Dallas location prior to its expiration," said a spokeswoman.
     

  • RED Legacy and DRA Advisors acquire The Streets of Brentwood

    Brentwood, Calif. -- RED Legacy and a fund managed by DRA Advisors have acquired The Streets of Brentwood, a 350,000-sq.-ft. lifestyle center on 60 acres in the Greater San Francisco Bay Area.

    Tenants include a 14-screen Rave Imax Brentwood 14+ImaxTheater, DSW, REI, Loft, Banana Republic, Victoria’s Secret, BJ’s Restaurant & Brewhouse, Ulta and more. In addition, Charming Charlie will open a 7,500-sq.-ft. store in November.
