  • New lease on life for Las Olas Boulevard

    It was an urban retail real estate broker’s dream: five blocks of Main Street storefront — almost 250,000 sq. ft. of it — sandwiched between beachfront and commercial business district. That’s what the owners of most of five contiguous blocks on Fort Lauderdale’s Las Olas Boulevard plopped on the plate of Michael Comras.

    DSW Inc. is making good on its promise to create a foothold in the Persian Gulf.   The footwear giant opened of its first warehouse store in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. The new 15,000-sq.-ft. store is located at the Mall of Dhahran.

  • Teen apparel retailer tops Street

    Victoria's Secret loss is American Eagle Outfitters’ gain as the teen apparel retailer posted better-than-expected second quarter results, fueled by strong demand for its Aerie lingerie brand.   Net income fell to $21.2 million, or 12 cents per share, in the quarter ended July 29, from $41.6 million, or 23 cents per share, in the year-ago period. Excluding restructuring and related charges of $0.07 per diluted share, the company’s adjusted EPS was $0.19 for the quarter, above analysts' estimates.  
  • Levin tapped to build and lease New Jersey center

    Levin Management Corp. will be building, leasing, and managing a new neighborhood center on the former site of an auto repair shop in Union, New Jersey.   Rising household incomes in the area make it a prime location for new retail in a dense urban region, according to Levin’s senior VP of Leasing and acquisitions Joseph Lowry, who points to a daytime population 86,000 and an average household income of $110,000.

  • Wireless retailer details new store openings

    Sprint is expanding its growing store network in the Pacific Northwest.   The company plans to open 12 new retail locations throughout Washington by the end of 2017. Currently, Sprint operates more than 107 stores throughout the state.   In Oregon, Sprint plans to open nine stores in the Portland Metro area by yearend. The carrier current has more than 64 locations throughout the market.
