    Delivering a superior mobile experience is a top holiday priority

    Retailers can expect mobile devices to impact sales and play a greater role in buying decisions this holiday than last. Mobile as a percentage of site traffic on Black Friday shot up to 24% in 2012 from 14.3% the previous year. Sales over smartphones and devices on Black Friday rose to 16% in 2012, up from 9.8% in 2011.

  • Supermarket retailer launches texting program

    Lubbock, Texas -- The United Family, parent of United Supermarkets and several other grocery store banners, has launched a texting program designed to enhance shopping experiences of United Supermarkets, Market Street and Amigos guests. Shoppers who opt-in to the texting program will receive product information and savings opportunities they can use instantly.
     

  • Pepsi sponsoring Katy Perry performance for MTV Video Music Awards

    PURCHASE, N.Y. — Pepsi is teaming up with MTV to support a performance by pop star Katy Perry at the 2013 MTV Video Music Awards, from an undisclosed location in Brooklyn Aug. 25. 

    Pepsi will also hold a tweet-to-unlock and social voting program where fans can access information and audio samples of two songs from Perry's upcoming album, Prism, available Oct. 22. Participants who tweet #KATYNOW will unlock clues around two of the album's tracks, including the song titles and select lyrics.

    NEW YORK — Sequential Brands Group, the parent company of Heelys wheeled footwear, plans to overhaul the footwear collection and expand into new product categories, including backpacks and other back-to-school accessories.

  • Dunkin’ Donuts launches Twitter sweepstakes for mobile app

    Canton, Mass. – To mark the first anniversary of its mobile gifting/payment app, Dunkin’ Donuts is launching a sweepstakes on Twitter. The sweepstakes, called “DD Mobile Appiversary,” will give 365 consumers a $10 Dunkin' Donuts mGift.

  • Meijer expands digital coupon initiative

    Grand Rapids, Mich. -- Meijer is expanding its mPerks digital coupon program to include pharmacy purchases, allowing customers to earn $10 off their total shopping purchase, 5% off total grocery and health-and-beauty purchases or 50 cents off per gallon of Meijer gas for every five eligible prescriptions filled. Customers can also hang onto their rewards and keep filling prescriptions to earn double rewards, saving as much as $1 per gallon on gas or $20 off their next shopping visit.

    New York -- Gap is celebrating its brand heritage with a fall global marketing campaign – Back to Blue – that is one of the broadest reaching in its history. The campaign spans outdoor, direct, social, in store, digital and also includes a return to television.

  • Jack in the Box pops up with Vine campaign

    San Diego – Jack in the Box is launching a new summer promotional campaign utilizing the mobile video platform Vine. Developed by digital agency Struck, the campaign consists of 101 videos showing Jack in the Box customers how to "Go Big," a promotional theme the retailer is using in its menu.
