  • Bloomberg: Retail sales edge up 0.4% in May

    New York – Initial Bloomberg estimates indicate US retail sales edged up 0.4% last month, with growth in the job market spurring increased consumer willingness to spend money. The projected increase is the largest in three months and follows smaller increases of 0.1% in April.

  • OSL Holdings’ footprint extends into mobile territory

    ORANGEBURG, N.Y. — OSL Holdings, a developer of technology platforms that enable real-time sales and trend information exchange between brands and retailers, has launched its Equality Rewards Mobile platform, iPhone app and mobile website. 

    The Equality Rewards iPhone app is downloadable free through the Apple App Store or you can sign-up through your smartphone.

  • Cold weather chills Ann Q1 profit

    New York -- Ann Inc., which runs the Ann Taylor and Loft,  reported that its fiscal first-quarter net income dropped 27%, as unseasonably cold weather held back sales of spring and summer clothing and led to discounts. The retailer also cut its revenue outlook for the year.

  • Jos. Bank’s Q1 profit down 45%

    Hampstead, Md. -- JoS. A. Bank Clothiers’ net income for the first quarter of fiscal year 2013 fell 45% to $8.1 million, down from $14.8 million for the first quarter of fiscal year 2012.

    Total sales for the first quarter decreased 2.6% to $196.1 million from $201.4 million in year-ago period.

    WESTKLAKE VILLAGE, Calif. — Dole is on a 4,800-mile banana truck tour in an attempt to get Americans to eat more fruits and veggies, namely bananas. Company representatives will travel for a total of 102 days in a pink-and-turquoise truck during the Peel the Love Summer Food Truck Tour.

    HAMPSTEAD, Md. — JoS. A. Bank Clothiers’ reported net income for the first quarter of fiscal year 2013 of $8.1 million, a 45% fall from $14.8 million for the first quarter of fiscal year 2012.

    Total sales for the first quarter decreased 2.6% to $196.1 million from $201.4 million in year-ago period.

  • Rite Aid taps Provision Interactive for in-store 3D rewards centers

    Chatsworth, Calif. -- Provision Interactive Technologies has entered into a multi-year partnership with Rite Aid Corp. to install Provision’s 3D Reward Centers kiosks inside select Rite Aid stores. The kiosks will generate 3D holographic videos as well as exclusive wellness+ information and Rite Aid promotions.

  • Survey: Father’s Day 2013 sales to reach $13 billion

    New York -- Research released by IBISWorld showed that Father’s Day sales are forecast to total $13 billion in 2013, a 2% year-over-year increase. Results are expected to get a boost from the overall rise in consumer spending.

    Special outings, such as dining out and watching sporting events, are expected to account for the largest share of Father’s Day spending this year, contributing 18.8% of total holiday sales, up 3.5% from 2012.
