    GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — Meijer announced that it will once again double match every customer's $10 Simply Give donation made April 12 to 13 to help restock the shelves of local food pantries that were depleted over the holidays.

  • Madison Marquette to lease retail space for Dilworth Plaza

    Philadelphia -- Philadelphia’s Center City District, a private-sector sponsored business improvement district, announced on Friday that it has retained Madison Marquette Retail Services to lease the retail space for Dilworth Plaza.

    As part of a major transformation of Dilworth Plaza, premium retail space for the operation of a café concept is available, encompassing 600 sq. ft. with indoor and outdoor seating that can accommodate 60.

  • Barnes & Noble giving away free e-readers

    NEW YORK — Barnes & Noble is giving away a free Nook Simple Touch e-reader, which retails for $79, to any customer who buys its high-definition Nook HD+ tablet between March 24 and March 31.

    The offer is available at all Barnes & Noble stores, Barnes & Noble College Bookstores and online. It also is being offered through other retailers that sell Nook products, including Walmart.com, Target and Best Buy.

  • Change comes in a bottle for Pepsi

    PURCHASE, N.Y. — Pepsi has unveiled a new single-serve bottle, marking its first design update since 1996.  The new bottle will be rolled out in markets nationwide starting in April in 16-ounce and 20-ounce packaging, with full conversion taking a few years. 

  • Bruegger's Bagels to open at Westwind Plaza

    Minnetonka, Minn. -- Brixmor Property Group has announced a 2,108-sq.-ft. lease with Bruegger's Bagels at Westwind Plaza, located in Minnetonka, Minn.

    Brixmor, based in New York City, is the owner of Westwind Plaza.

    New York -- Barnes & Noble announced on Friday that it would give away a free Nook Simple Touch e-reader, which retails for $79, to any customer who buys its high-definition Nook HD+ tablet between March 24 and March 31.

  • Report: Tesco U.S. experiment not so Fresh & Easy

    LOS ANGELES — U.K.-based Tesco has lost up to $2 billion in its failed Fresh & Easy California venture, according to a report by the Los Angeles Times — Tesco had placed the troubled grocer on the sales bloc in December following the departure of Fresh & Easy CEO Tim Mason. 

    The retailer's struggles can be traced to labor unions and an ambitious investment into an 850,000-sq.-ft. distribution center that placed pressure on the 200-store chain to expand rapidly, according to the LA Times report. 

  • Former Adidas exec named CEO at 2XU

    CARLSBAD, Calif. — 2XU, a manufacturer of high performance athletic apparel, has named Kevin Roberts CEO of the company. 

    "2XU represents the pursuit of an incredible global business opportunity," said Roberts. "I greatly value the entrepreneurial culture of the brand and will continue to foster it moving forward."
