  • Bruegger’s launches art contest, new store concept

    St. Paul, Minn. – Bruegger’s Bagels opens a new store concept in Woodbury, Minn., today, and is launching a promotional contest to find artwork to place on a large brick feature wall in the store. Through March 31, amateur and professional artists can submit an abstract, two-dimensional design for the wall.

    The winning design will be the focal point of the bakery and will be used in select new bakeries nationwide. The chosen artist will receive a $10,000 cash prize. Contest details are available on Bruegger’s Facebook page.

  • Sears to hire 6,500 vets and spouses

    Hoffman Estates, Ill. - Sears Holdings Corporation anticipates hiring 6,500 veterans and military spouses in 2014. The hiring goal builds on the more than 6,000 veterans and spouses hired in 2013, and nearly doubles the 3,500 hired in 2012.

    The company currently employs more than 30,000 veteran associates, many of whom are still serving in the National Guard and the Reserve forces.

  • Simon names Mills’ eastern region marketing director

    Chevy Chase, Md. — Simon Property Group has promoted Sean Mayo, former director of strategic partnerships for Simon Business Ventures, to regional director of marketing, east region of The Mills portfolio.

  • Zappos Couture website gets makeover

    Zappos Couture’s website has a new look thanks to new artistic director Andre Leon Talley. Talley and Zappos Couture created the imagery for the new editorial in New York City's Industria Studios in December 2013.

  • J.C. Penney pursues sustainability in fiscal year 2012

    Plano, Texas – J.C. Penney Co. released its 2013 Sustainability Report, outlining sustainability initiatives pursued during fiscal year 2012 ended Feb. 2013. Highlights of the report included:

    • Stores and Operations: Through the company’s energy conservation efforts, J.C. Penney has received Energy Star certification in more than 500 locations and earned the Energy Star Sustained Excellence Award for five consecutive years.

  • ProHealth to Glen Oaks in Queens, N.Y.

    New York — ProHealth has signed a lease for a 10,913-sq.-ft. location at an endcap of the 187,650-sq.-ft. Glen Oaks Shopping Center in the Glen Oaks section of Queens, according to The Feil Organization, the center’s owner and manager. The lease brings the open-air center to 99% leased.

    The medical services provider is renovating the façade and expanding the existing space to increase its frontage on Union Turnpike. ProHealth expects to open in March.

  • Toms CEO Mycoskie joins B Team

    Toms founder and CEO Blake Mycoskie is the latest recruit to join the B Team, a nonprofit initiative, co-founded by Sir Richard Branson and Jochen Zeitz. Mycoskie is the youngest member of team.

    The B Team was created to encourage businesses to be a driving force for social, environmental and economic benefit.

  • Bud Light launches campaign to keep fans safe on Super Bowl Sunday

    Bud Light, the official beer sponsor of the NFL, is teaming up with NFL Hall of Famer Bruce Smith to launch "Stay in the Game/Drink Responsibly" — an integrated campaign that will provide adults with a reliable way to travel during the weekend of the big game.

    "At Bud Light, we take pride in being a leader in encouraging consumers to drink responsibly," said Rob McCarthy, VP, Bud Light. "'Stay in the Game' is designed to connect with and inspire fans to make smart decisions on Super Bowl Sunday."
