  • Sam's Club fires up partnership with pitmaster Troy Black

    BENTONVILLE, Ark. — Sam's Club has invited pitmaster and cookbook author Troy Black to show families how to create the perfect Memorial Day meal. Black will star in a series of grilling demonstration videos that can be viewed on the SamsClub.com/meals "Tips & Videos" tab. The site also features photos and printable recipes on the "Easy Recipes" tab.

  • Limited Brands Q1 profit slips, still beats Street

    Columbus, Ohio -- Limited Brands Inc. reported Wednesday a first-quarter profit of $124.6 million, compared with $165.2 million in the year-ago period. Results topped Wall Street estimates.

    Net sales slipped to $2.15 billion from $2.22 billion, and same-store sales increased 7%.

    Charleston, S.C. -- The number of Americans delaying their shopping to Memorial Day Weekend is at an all-time high, according to findings in two reports by America's Research Group Surveys. The reports find that shoppers will approach Memorial Day in keeping with a growing trend: holding off on shopping until "big" holiday weekends.

  • IndyCar champion to drive No. 50 in Target's honor

    IndyCar driver Dario Franchitti will honor sponsor Target's 50th anniversary by using the using the number 50 on the car he will use at the Indianapolis 500. The car will feature a paint scheme that uses the Target bullseye in place of the zero. Franchitti regularly uses the No. 10 car. Read more.

     

  • Target Q1 beats estimates, raises forecast

    Minneapolis -- Target Corp. reported a better-than-expected 1.2% increase in first-quarter profit as warm weather and an early Easter helped drive sales. The chain also raised its earnings forecast for the full year.

    Target’s net earnings for the quarter ended April 28 were $697 million, compared with $689 million in the year-ago period.

    “We’re very pleased with our first-quarter earnings, which benefited from better-than-expected sales,” Gregg Steinhafel, Target’s CEO, said in a statement.
