  • Sam's Club invests big in small business

    Washington, D.C. — Sam's Club has pledged more than $2 million in donations to nonprofits supporting small business growth. The announcement was made by Sam's Club president and CEO Rosalind Brewer.

    "At Sam’s Club our small business owners are our partners, and we want to put our money where our mission is — which is to be agents for and support our members and the small business community," said Brewer, addressing guests at the Dream Big Small Business of the Year awards luncheon at the Shoreham Hotel.

  • Food Lion raises more than $500K for Hunger Has a Cure campaign

    Salisbury, N.C. — Food Lion announced the results of its two-week Hunger Has a Cure campaign.

    The campaign, which ran April 4 to April 17, raised more than $500,000, which will support Feeding America's network of local food banks. Feeding America will use the funds to provide 3.7 million meals to those in need. As part of the campaign, customers were given the opportunity to donate $1, $3 or any other amount of their choice at checkout.

  • Simon to provide update on Walmart U.S. at retail conference

    Bentonville, Ark. — Walmart U.S. CEO Bill Simon will provide an update on the company's U.S. business at the Morgan Stanley Retail and Restaurants Conference in Boston on Wednesday, May 23.

    The presentation will be webcast live through links at Walmartstores.com/investors and a transcript will be available later in the week. The materials will be archived for one year on the company’s website.

  • Retail real estate’s biggest show kicks off

    Las Vegas -- On Monday morning, RECon 2012, the International Council of Shopping Centers’ annual retail real estate convention in Las Vegas, kicks off with an expected 31,000+ attendees from around the globe.

    Running through Wednesday, May 23, RECon will encompass three halls of the Las Vegas Convention Center – or over 1 million sq. ft. – with more than 1,000 companies exhibiting and highlights such as The Cities of the World Pavilion and a keynote presentation by Leslie H. Wexner, founder of Limited Brands.
     

  • DSW to open at Capital City Mall

    Harrisburg, Pa. -- Philadelphia-based Pennsylvania Real Estate Investment Trust said that DSW will open a 17,400-sq.-ft. store at Capital City Mall in Camp Hill, Pa.

    To accommodate the footwear and accessories retailer, PREIT said that 5,000 sq. ft. of retail space is being added to the mall. A 2013 opening for DSW is anticipated.

  • Regal Cinemas to open at Trails Town Center

    Benbrook, Texas -- Fort Worth, Texas-based Buxton said Friday that Regal Entertainment Group will open a new Regal Cinemas at The Trails Town Center, located in Benbrook, Texas.

    The new 14-screen theater will include the Regal Premium Experience: RPX large format screen, and is the first anchor tenant announced at the Buxton-developed 1.5 million-sq.-ft. Trails Town Center.
     

  • Sam's Club fires up partnership with pitmaster Troy Black

    BENTONVILLE, Ark. — Sam's Club has invited pitmaster and cookbook author Troy Black to show families how to create the perfect Memorial Day meal. Black will star in a series of grilling demonstration videos that can be viewed on the SamsClub.com/meals "Tips & Videos" tab. The site also features photos and printable recipes on the "Easy Recipes" tab.
