  • NRF honors efforts to fight retail crime

    NEW ORLEANS — Recognizing that fighting retail crime is a collaborative effort, the National Retail Federation during its annual Loss Prevention Conference and Expo, the National Retail Federation honored six individuals that exhibited exemplary dedication and investigative skills in solving retail crimes.

    NRF gave out its Law Enforcement Retail Partnership Award to the following people:

    • Kebharu Smith, assistant U.S. attorney, Department of Justice – Houston office;

  • Industry leaders gather in Instanbul amid global chaos

    While the European Union continued to meltdown and Moody’s was downgrading major U.S. financial institutions, 800 representatives from leading retailer and CPG companies were gathered in Instanbul for the Consumer Goods Forum annual Global Summit.

  • RECon 2012 left landlords and tenants anticipating what’s to come

    A heat wave washed over Las Vegas just in time for the International Council of Shopping Centers’ annual RECon event May 20-23 — and the mood inside the Las Vegas Convention Center was just as elevated.

    “I am very bullish on this year’s RECon,” said Andy Graiser, co-president of A&G Realty Partners, Melville, N.Y. “Growth is becoming evident in most all categories, and it’s smart growth.”

    Portable digital displays proved the ideal solution for a temporary installation at a Gap store in Manhattan. The application takes the hassle, along with the unsightly cords and wiring, out of digital signage.

  • Kohl’s in partnership with designer Narciso Rodriguez

    Menomonee Falls, Wis. -- Kohl’s Department Stores has scored a big coup. The chain announced that Narciso Rodriguez will be the first designer for the retailer’s new limited-edition collection concept called DesigNation, which will feature fashions based on international inspiration from different premier designers.

    The launch DesigNation collection will draw creative influence from Rodriguez’s trip to Istanbul, Turkey, earlier this year. It will be available exclusively at Kohl’s and Kohls.com beginning in early November.

  • P&G lowers quarterly guidance

    CINCINNATI — Procter & Gamble has issued more conservative guidance for its quarter ending in June and unveiled preliminary guidance for fiscal year 2013.

    Speaking at the Deutsche Bank Global Consumer Conference in Paris, P&G board chairman, president and CEO Bob McDonald said, "We are making the necessary adjustments to our growth strategy to increase focus on our core business and to achieve more balanced growth across geographies, product categories and the top and bottom lines."

    BOCA RATON, Fla. — Sheets, makers of dissolvable energy strips, has partnered with Walmart and Pitbull to launch a local Facebook page contest among local Walmart stores, to offer customers the chance to win a visit by Mr. Worldwide.
