  • First look: Microsoft Manhattan flagship

    Microsoft Corp. has opened its first Manhattan flagship, within blocks of its major competitor.

    The new Microsoft store is located at the intersection of Fifth Avenue and 53rd Street, just several blocks away from Apple's Manhattan flagship with its famed glass cube entry. Microsoft has been planning the five-floor, 22,369-sq.-ft. store for more than six years.

  • 45 Retailers named for expanded and redesigned Broadway Plaza

    Walnut Creek, Calif. -- Macerich announced 45 retailers set to join Broadway Plaza in Walnut Creek, California. The center, anchored by Nordstrom, Neiman Marcus and Macy's, is undergoing a major renovation that will add 315,000 sq. ft. of new space, parking, new finishes and refreshed outdoor amenities.

  • FedEx expects 12% increase in holiday shipments

    FedEx says a big boost in online shopping will propel its business between Black Friday and Christmas Eve at least 12.4% above 2014 levels.

    FedEx expects the holiday period to include three shipment volume spikes: Cyber Monday and the first two Mondays in December.

    The company said it was adding 55,000 employees for the holidays to handle the increased demand.

  • J.C. Penney letting go of 300 at HQ

    Headquarters layoffs are spreading throughout the retail industry with J.C. Penney joining Walmart and Dollar General in making deep cuts to its non-store workforce.

    The department store retailer on Thursday said it planned to cut 300 of its 3,400 home office positions to reduce expenses and achieve financial targets.

Hay Creek Shops is a regional power center on 33 acres that once complete will total more than 300,000 sq. ft. of retail and restaurants.

    Anyone who thinks Michael Jordan’s star may have dimmed in the 10-plus years since he retired from professional basketball, should think again.

    Nike on Saturday, Oct. 24, in Chicago, debuts its first-ever store dedicated entirely to its Jordan Brand, and fans of the sports legend, along with sneaker enthusiasts, lined up for days in anticipation of the opening. Nike also plans to open Jordan Brand stores in additional locations, including New York, Los Angeles and Toronto.
