Office Depot exec joins Dollarama board

2/19/2015

Canadian discounter Dollarama has turned to an Office Depot executive to guide the company through expansion plans in 2015.

The company announced that Elisa D. Garcia has been appointed as an independent director and member of the nominating and governance committee of the corporation. Garcia's appointment expands the company’s board of directors to 10 directors, seven of whom are independent.

"We are delighted to welcome Elisa to our board. Elisa is a seasoned executive whose skills and experience will add valuable perspective and insight and will serve as a strong complement to the skills of the other directors", said Larry Rossy, chairman and CEO of Dollarama.

Montreal-based Dollarama has 928 locations across Canada. In December the company said it plans to stick with its winning formula and expand to 1,200 stores.

Garcia currently serves as EVP and chief legal officer of Office Depot Inc. She is responsible for managing legal, regulatory, compliance and government affairs matters for the company worldwide as well as the loss prevention function. Prior to joining Office Depot in 2007, Garcia was EVP, general counsel & corporate secretary for Domino's Pizza Inc. Earlier in her career, she served as Latin American regional counsel for Philip Morris International and corporate counsel for GAF Corporation.
