  • Most shoppers will be hitting the (physical) shops on Black Friday

    More than half of all shoppers are planning to make holiday purchases over the Thanksgiving holiday period, according to a new report.

    The 2015 International Council of Shopping Centers Black Friday Shopping Study shows that 59% of shoppers plan to make a purchase at a physical store over the weekend (Thursday-Sunday).

    Surprisingly, Cyber Monday is shaping up to be the second-most popular day for in-store shopping – even though it’s a day normally associated with online activity. Overall, Americans plan to shop in-store on:

    CBL & Associates Properties and Fisher-Price along with special guest, Santa Claus, delivered an early Christmas gift to families at West Towne Mall in Madison, Wisconsin.

    The brand new soft play area attraction is now open and is the first of its kind in the country, resembling a larger-than-life Toy Box featuring iconic children’s brands like Thomas & Friends, Little People, and more.

    Sears is going the private, members-only route this Black Friday in an effort to drive traffic to its stores.

    For the first time ever, Sears will open all of its stores to select Shop Your Way members for a private night of shopping for many of its Thanksgiving/Black Friday doorbusters four days early. Sears will hold its "Members Private Night" in all stores on Nov. 22 from 6-9 p.m. While access to the event is by email or text invitation only, members can text the word "EXCLUSIVE" to 73277 to receive an invitation, while supplies last.

    Experts and regular folks alike are puzzled by the uproar over Starbucks’ holiday cup design, the Associated Press reported.   • Neiman Marcus names design firm for its first Manhattan location

    New York-based Janson Goldstein LLP has been tapped as the design firm for the Neiman Marcus store at Hudson Yards in Manhattan, Women’s Wear Daily reported.

    The firm has a wide-ranging practice that includes both residential, hospitality and retail work, with a roster of clients that includes Holt Renfrew, Intermix and Saks Fifth Avenue.
