  • Publix to sell Crispers chain

    Lakeland, Fla. -- Publix Super Markets said that it has reached a deal to sell the Crispers restaurant chain to Healthy Food Concepts, an affiliate of the Miami-based investment group Boyne Capital Partners. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

    Crispers is a fast-casual restaurant chain serving soup, salads and sandwiches with 36 locations in Florida.
     

  • Zale names chief administrative officer

    Dallas -- Zale Corp. announced the company’s CFO, Matt Appel, has been appointed as chief administrative officer. He will continue to serve as CFO.

    Appel will be responsible for real estate, supply chain and logistics, merchandise planning and allocation, information technology, warranty, repair and credit products, as well as the ongoing management of Zale’s finance and control functions.

  • Nordstrom Rack on Long Island to relocate

    Seattle -- Nordstrom announced plans to relocate its Nordstrom Rack at The Mall at The Source to the Gallery at Westbury Plaza. The new store will be located approximately a quarter of a mile from the existing location and is expected to open in fall 2012.

  • Publix sells Crispers business

    LAKELAND, Fla. — Publix Super Markets announced that it has entered into a contract to sell Crispers, the fresh salads, soups and sandwiches restaurant company it purchased in February 2007, to Healthy Food Concepts, LLC, an affiliate of a Florida-based investment group.

  • NRF supports repeal of employer-mandated health care

    WASHINGTON — The National Retail Federation announced that it is endorsing legislation that would repeal the employer mandate provision of last year’s healthcare reform law.

  • Children’s Place appoints COO

    Secaucus, N.J. -- The Children's Place Retail Stores announced the appointment of Eric Bauer as COO. He will be responsible for supply chain, planning and allocation, store operations, finance, information technology and real estate.

    Bauer most recently he spent eight years with The Gap, culminating in his appointment as executive VP brand operations COO, for Gap North America where he was responsible for finance, store operations, real estate, distribution, logistics, information technology and their Canadian operations.

  • College students to get schooled in retail marketing

    SAN FRANCISCO and DULUTH, Minn. — DemandTec, an optimization network for retailers and consumer products companies, announced that it has partnered with the Labovitz School of Business & Economics at the University of Minnesota Duluth to support the university's new program training students with skills for careers in the retail and consumer products industries.

  • Former Gap exec fills Children's Place COO spot

    SECAUCUS, N.J. — The Children's Place Retail Stores search for someone to oversee its finance and operations appears to have come to an end as the company has announced the appointment of Eric Bauer as COO. He will report to Jane Elfers, president and CEO, and will be responsible for supply chain, planning and allocation, store operations, finance, information technology and real estate.
