USM announced on March 9 the addition of retail veteran, Shirley Culman, and strategic sourcing specialist, Victor Smith to the company's management team.

Shirley Culman joins USM from Linens ‘N Things, where she was VP store planning, construction and facilities. Shirley has extensive experience in facilities management, having held responsibility for developing capital programs, evaluating facility maintenance needs, and establishing energy management and emerging technology initiatives across a large retail environment. She holds a bachelor’s degree in business administration from the University of Cincinnati. Initially, Shirley will report to Tom Donnelly, VP finance and accounting, leading our Vendor Rebate project, a significant priority for the organization.

Victor Smith will report to Kevin Longland, SVP operations, and will be responsible for the Michaels Facility Management contract. He will be involved in an extensive period of transition with Chris Mathewson, who will continue to play a vital role on the Michaels contract, and Carl Nottberg, who will continue to provide support to the Michaels team as we consolidate additional services with this key client.

Victor joins USM from the consulting firm Resources Global Professionals, where he managed a number of strategic sourcing and supply chain projects, including a recent assignment with Michaels. He had previously worked for American Airlines and IBM Corp. in IT management and finance. Victor holds a B.A. in electrical engineering from Dartmouth College and an MBA in finance from Rutgers University. He will be based in Dallas.

USM extends a warm welcome to both Culman and Smith and thanks Chris Mathewson and Carl Nottberg for their commitment and leadership in successfully managing the early transition of the Michaels contract.
