    New York City -- Innovation in heating, ventilation and air-conditioning will be driven by cost savings from more efficient energy use and pressure to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, according to a recent from Pike Research.

    DENVER — Quiznos will open restaurants in Meijer locations in Michigan, the quick service restaurant announced Wednesday. The relationship between Quiznos and Meijer is the most recent in a series of successful partnerships and store openings in Quiznos’ non-traditional development strategy, the company announced.

  • Kohl's opens 30 new stores, focuses on innovation

    MENOMONEE FALLS, Wis. — Kohl’s Department Stores has announced the grand opening of 30 new stores across 20 states. According to the company, these openings will create approximately 4,000 new jobs.

  • Cabela's names head marketer

    SIDNEY, Neb. — Cabela’s Inc. announced that Scott Williams will be joining the company as EVP and chief marketing and e-commerce officer, reporting to Tommy Millner, chief executive officer.

    Previously, Williams served as president of Fanatics Inc., a vertically integrated online retailer of team and league licensed sports apparel and collectibles, which he joined in 2010. While at Fanatics, Williams led business and financial results with specific emphasis on marketing, IT, business development and manufacturing.

  • Cabela’s appoints marketing and online chief

    Sidney, Neb. -- Cabela’s announced that Scott K. Williams has been named executive VP and chief marketing and e-commerce officer.

    Previously, Williams served as president of Fanatics, a vertically integrated online retailer of team and league licensed sports apparel and collectibles, which he joined in 2010. Prior to that, he was a corporate VP Wal-Mart Stores from 2006 to 2010.

  • Ace Hardware to build Import Re-Distribution Center in Virginia

    Oak Brook, Ill. -- Ace Hardware Corp. has selected Suffolk, Va., for the company’s new 336,000-sq.-ft. Import Re-Distribution Center (RDC). Construction is scheduled for completion May 1, 2012.

    The facility will allow the company to reduce import and logistics costs and provide an even higher level of service to East Coast retailers, making it possible for Ace stores to more effectively respond to consumer needs dictated by hurricanes and other weather emergencies in the region.

  • Report: Limited to unveil plus-size division

    New York City -- The Limited will enter the women’s plus-size business, Women’s Wear Daily reported. The new offering, called eloquii by The Limited, will launch online in October, with stores to follow next year, the report said. 

    The merchandise mix will include sportswear, dresses and accessories, with sizes ranging from 14W to 24W.

  • Former Walmart EVP gets a sweet new gig at Nestlé

    VEVEY, Switzerland — Wan Ling Martello, who currently serves as Walmart's EVP global e-commerce of emerging markets, has been named EVP and CFO of Nestlé, effective April 1, 2012. Martello will replace Jim Singh will retire in March 2012 after 35 years with the company.
