  • Supervalu exec gets a NEW award

    CHICAGO — Sue Klug, president of the Southern California division of Supervalu, has been awarded the Bobbie O'Hare Award for outstanding service to the Network of Executive Women.

  • Dollar Tree authorizes $1.5 billion buyback

    Chesapeake, Va. -- Dollar Tree said that its board has approved a $1.5 billion share repurchase program. The company said it has invested more than $1.9 billion for share repurchase since 2003, including $414.7 million in 2010 and $345.9 million in 2011, to date.

  • Marsh lowers prices as part of special program

    Indianapolis -- Marsh Supermarkets said Thursday that it will lower prices on select items in a move to spur sales and loyalty.

    The program, called Good ‘Til, launched this month and guarantees that prices on the most popular items won't increase for at least three months even if industry retail prices increase.

    The three-month guarantees will be offered four times per year.

  • Grocer Winn-Dixie aggressively remodels and expands

    Tampa, Fla. -- Regional grocer Winn-Dixie said it is working hard to change a tarnished image.

    The chain, fresh out of bankruptcy, is in the throes of rolling out its previously announced remodeling, expansion and new development plan that involves an investment of about $100 million.

    In Sarasota, Fla., a remodeled store will feature such upgraded features as a café with free Wi-Fi, an imported wine and craft beer section, a sushi bar, pizza bar and several stations where chefs prepare hot dinners for shoppers on the go.

  • Home Depot names new legal head

    ATLANTA — The Home Depot Thursday announced it has named Teresa Wynn Roseborough EVP, general counsel and corporate secretary. She will join the company's senior leadership team and report to Frank Blake, chairman and CEO.

    Roseborough will be responsible for leading The Home Depot's legal department, as well as its government relations and corporate security services functions. She will assume her new role on Nov. 7.

  • Home Depot names executive VP

    Atlanta -- The Home Depot announced it has named Teresa Wynn Roseborough executive VP general counsel and corporate secretary, effective in November.

    Roseborough, who will be responsible for leading The Home Depot's legal department, as well as its government relations and corporate security services functions, joins the chain from MetLife, where she most recently served as deputy general counsel.

  • Designer Jean-Michel Cazabat opens first U.S. retail store

    New York City -- Footwear designer Jean-Michel Cazabat said he will open his first U.S. store on Oct. 8 in New York City's West Village.
