  • OfficeMax engages RedPrairie for workforce managment

    ATLANTA — OfficeMax is using RedPrairie Corp.'s Enterprise Workforce Management tool to boost labor efficiencies and manage costs enterprise-wide across its supply chain and retail stores, RedPrairie announced in a company press release.

    RedPrairie’s Enterprise Workforce Management solution enables retailers to manage their workforce holistically addressing time and attendance, forecasting, scheduling, labor standards, execution management and learning management, according to the company. 

  • Toys ‘R’ Us expands Asian foothold with strategic acquisition

    Wayne, N.J. -- Toys “R” Us announced Tuesday a joint venture with Li & Fung Retailing that will expand Toys “R” Us in Southeast Asia and Greater China.

    With the new agreement, the existing Toys “R” Us licensed operations throughout Asia, consisting of more than 100 stores and offices across nine markets, will become 70% majority owned and controlled by Toys “R” Us and 30% owned by Li & Fung Retailing.

  • Zale names new real estate head

    DALLAS — Zale Corp. announced that Subha Ramesh has been named SVP real estate. Ramesh will report to Matt Appel, chief administrative officer.

  • Winn-Dixie narrows loss in Q1

    Jacksonville, Fla. -- Winn-Dixie Stores reported Monday a loss of $24.1 million in the fiscal first quarter, compared with a loss of $76.8 million in the year-ago period.

    Revenue rose 3.1% to $1.59 billion, from $1.54 billion last year, helped by success from its gas-related reward program. Sales just missed Wall Street’s expected $1.6 billion in revenue.

    Same-store sales rose 3.3%. During the quarter, the company opened two additional transformational remodeled stores that Winn-Dixie continues to monitor for additional roll-out.

  • Maurice Badler Fine Jewelry to open Park Ave. flagship

    New York City -- Winick Realty Group said Tuesday that Maurice Badler Fine Jewelry has signed a long-term lease for its 954-sq.-ft. flagship store at 485 Park Avenue, between 58th and 59th Streets on Manhattan’s Upper East Side.

    The new store is scheduled to open in early November.
     

  • Shoe Show to open at Victory Square

    Savannah, Ga. -- Brixmor Property Group announced Tuesday a 4,800-sq.-ft. lease has been executed with Shoe Show at Victory Square, located in Savannah, Ga.

    Brixmor, based in New York City, is the owner of Victory Square.
     

  • Bon-Ton real estate strategy includes two store closings in Pa., Ohio

    York, Pa. -- As part of a real estate realignment strategy, The Bon-Ton Stores Inc. on Tuesday said it will close two of its department stores, one in Pennsylvania and the other in Ohio, when their leases expire in early 2012.

    The company said it plans to close its store in the West Manchester Mall in York, Pa., in January, and its Elder-Beerman store in the Northwest Mall in Dayton, Ohio, which will shut down in February.

    WAYNE, N.J. — Toys“R”Us announced that it has entered into a joint venture with Li & Fung Retailing that would make Toys"R"Us Inc. the majority shareholder of Toys"R"Us operations in Southeast Asia and Greater China. With this agreement, the existing Toys“R”Us licensed operations throughout Asia, which currently consist of more than 100 stores and offices across nine markets, will become 70% majority owned and controlled by Toys“R”Us Inc. and 30% owned by Li & Fung Retailing.
