  • Children's Place raises outlook on strong earnings performance

    SECAUCUS, N.J. — The economy may be keeping some families from purchasing new clothes for their children, but that didn't stop The Children's Place from delivering earnings that beat estimates.

    The company reported income from continuing operations of $33.7 million, or $1.33 per diluted share, compared with $31.2 million, or $1.14 per diluted share, in the third quarter of 2010. Analysts were expecting earnings of $1.27 per diluted share.

  • Dollar Tree net income rises 12% in Q3

    Chesapeake, Va. -- Dollar Tree reported Thursday that profit for the third quarter rose 12.1% to $104.5 million, from $93.2 million a year earlier.

    Revenue rose 11.9% to $1.6 billion, surpassing Wall Street’s expected $1.58 billion. Performance has been consistent with the strength of the category, as the discounter has recorded double-digit year-over-year percentage revenue increases over the past five quarters.

    Same-store sales rose 4.8% in the third quarter.

  • Ross Stores Q3 up 18.6%

    Pleasanton, Calif. -- Ross Stores Inc. reported Thursday its third straight quarter of profits, as net income rose 18.6% to $144 million, from $121.4 million a year earlier. Results met Wall Street expectations.

    “Operating our business on lower in-store inventories is driving faster turns and lower markdowns, which continues to benefit profit margins,” noted Michael Balmuth, CEO.

    Revenue rose 9.2% to $2.05 billion, beating analysts’ predicted $2.03 billion in revenue.

  • SRS Real Estate hires new team members in Chicago

    Dallas -- SRS Real Estate Partners said it has hired two new team members in the Chicago office.

    Tim Henry has been named senior VP and market leader. He was previously a founding principal with National Facilities Group.

    Todd Gould was named senior VP.
     

  • SRS Real Estate announces new hire

    Dallas -- SRS Real Estate Partners announced it has hired Kyle Stonis as a senior VP in the Atlanta office.

    Stonis will focus on strengthening the investment sales platform for SRS in Atlanta and throughout the Southeast.

    Previous to SRS, Stonis worked for Bull Realty in Atlanta as a retail investment broker and senior VP.

    SAN FRANCISCO — Ahmad Ouri has been named president of Premier Retail Networks, a global leader in digital place-based media services. Based in San Francisco, Ouri will oversee all PRN activities and lead the development and strategic growth of the company, which is wholly owned by Technicolor.

  • Report: Retail experiences can drive growth, profit and loyalty

    New York City -- PwC US, in its report Experience Radar 2011: Retail Insights, found that retailers that design differentiated ‘experiences’ around their products and services can drive growth, profitability and lasting consumer loyalty, while also maintaining a price premium over competitors.

    The study, based on PwC’s Experience Radar methodology, measured the experiences of more than 6,000 U.S. consumers across 11 industries.

  • Dollar Tree posts 19% earnings growth for Q3

    CHESAPEAKE, Va. — Dollar Tree posted big sales and earnings growth for the quarter, showing that discounters remain dominant in this economy. The company reported that consolidated net sales for the third quarter were $1.60 billion, an 11.9% increase compared with $1.43 billion reported for the quarter ended Oct. 30, 2010. Comparable-store sales increased 4.8%, on top of an 8.7% increase for the third quarter 2010.
