  • Marcus & Millichap names senior associate

    Austin, Texas -- Marcus & Millichap Real Estate Investment Services announced that Michael Buckner has rejoined the firm as a senior associate in the Austin office.

    Buckner originally joined Marcus & Millichap in October 2003 as an agent specializing in retail property sales. In December 2004, he was promoted to associate and in 2006 he received a Sales Recognition Award from the firm.

  • 7-Eleven completes acquisition of 18 Open Pantry stores

    Dallas -- 7-Eleven announced that it has completed a transaction to acquire 18 Open Pantry convenience store locations in Wisconsin, primarily in the greater Milwaukee and Madison markets. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

  • Nordstrom Rack to open in new center in El Paso, Texas

    Seattle -- Nordstrom said it will open a Nordstrom Rack at The Fountains at Farah, a new power and lifestyle shopping center in El Paso, Texas. The store will be approximately 35,000-sq. ft. and is scheduled to open in the fall 2013.

    The Fountains at Farah, with over 600,000 sq. ft. of retail and restaurant space, is being developed and managed by Centergy Retail LLC, Dallas.

  • Easton Town Center expansion, Columbus, Ohio

    A trailblazing town center is getting more space and a cosmetic update.

    Easton Town Center (Columbus, Ohio) co-developers Steiner + Associates and The Georgetown Co. have announced that they will be adding more than 50,000 sq. ft. of new tenants this year and renovating more than 150,000 sq. ft. of existing space.

    “Great projects evolve on purpose,” said Yaromir Steiner, CEO, Steiner. “Our vision for Easton has been, and continues to be, to challenge ourselves to make it better every day.”

  • E-commerce innovator adds tech talent

    Former Hewlett-Packard executive Shelley Perry was named SVP and chief technology officer at online electronics retailer Newegg, the company announced Monday. The company also name Merle McIntosh as SVP product management.

    “Newegg is dedicated to attracting top industry talent as we prepare to propel the company through our next stage of growth,” said Bob Bellack, CEO of Newegg North America. “Both Shelley and Merle are tremendous additions to our leadership team and we’re all thrilled to have them on board.”

  • Woolworths South Africa selects RedPrairie’s workforce management solution

    Johannesburg, South Africa -- RedPrairie Corp., a global supply chain and retail technology provider with a local office in Johannesburg, has been selected by Woolworths South Africa to provide a workforce management solution (WFM) to help improve the in-store customer experience.

    RedPrairie’s WFM solution leverages engineered standards and demand-based forecasts to optimize scheduling, task assignment, and performance measurement as well as compute and pay incentives.

  • Dollar General dials up mobile services with T-Mobile

    BELLEVUE, Wash. and GOODLETTSVILLE, Tenn. — Dollar General is offering customers a broader variety of prepaid mobile services through a new agreement with T-Mobile. Beginning in July, more than 6,400 Dollar General stores will offer numerous T-Mobile prepaid plan options and the Samsung t139 phone, which features messaging, web browsing, a camera and Bluetooth connectivity.

  • Report: Microsoft to make Canadian retail debut

    New York -- Microsoft Corp. will open its first retail location in Canada at the Yorkdale Mall, the Star reported.

    Apple has 23 stores across Canada, including a location at Yorkdale.

    The report cited building permit notices which revealed Microsoft has been approved to build a store in Yorkdale center.
