  • Walgreens legal head leaving for exec role at Hertz

    Deerfield, Ill. - Thomas Sabatino Jr., executive VP, global chief legal and administrative officer, Walgreens Boots Alliance, will be leaving the company to join Hertz Global Holdings effective Feb.9. Sabatino will join Hertz Global Holdings as senior executive VP, chief administrative officer and general counsel.

    Sabatino will remain in his current role with Walgreens Boots Alliance through the end of January to ensure a smooth transition of his current responsibilities. The company expects to announce his successor at that time.

  • Report: RadioShack may sell store leases to Sprint

    Fort Worth, Texas – RadioShack Corp. is reportedly negotiating with Sprint to sell some of its store leases to the wireless carrier. According to Bloomberg, Sprint executives said the company is planning to expand its store count through acquisitions at an investor conference last week.

  • Washington Prime completes acquisition of Glimcher Realty

    Bethesda, Md. -- Washington Prime Group Inc. has completed its previously announced acquisition of Glimcher Realty Trust, created a new company WP Glimcher, based in Columbus, Ohio.

    Mark S. Ordan will serve as executive chairman of the combined company’s board of directors and Michael P. Glimcher will serve as the combined company’s CEO and Vice Chairman, reporting to Ordan.

  • Roundy’s to open five stores in 2015; expects operating loss

    Milwaukee – Roundy’s Inc. expects to open five new stores in fiscal 2015, including one in the first quarter. However, the grocery chain also said it expects earnings per diluted share from continuing operations of flat to -$0.05 in the first quarter and a net loss of $0.07 to $0.18 per share in the fiscal year.

  • Home Depot CEO Menear named chairman

    Atlanta – The Home Depot Inc. has named CEO and president Craig Menear as chairman, effective Feb. 2. He will succeed Frank Blake, who will retire as chairman.
     

  • RPAI acquires the retail portion of Downtown Crown

    Washington, D.C. -- Retail Properties of America, Inc., has it closed on its $162.8-million acquisition of the retail portion of Downtown Crown, a class A mixed-use project located in Gaithersburg, Maryland (Washington, D.C. MSA). RPAI acquired the project from The JBG Companies and JBGR Retail.
