  • Walgreens acquires remainder of Alliance Boots

    Walgreens has exercised its option to complete the second step of its strategic transaction with Alliance Boots ahead of the original option period, which was between February and August 2015. The transaction, subject to shareholder and various regulatory approvals, would fully combine the two companies to form the first global pharmacy-led, health and well-being enterprise.
     

  • Smith & Wesson taps new SVP, sales and marketing

    Smith & Wesson has hired Andrew Coccari Jr. to fill the newly created position of SVP of sales and marketing, effective August 11. His appointment follows the announced retirement of Mario Pasantes, SVP of marketing and international sales, scheduled for 2015.

  • CBRE Group acquires Louisville, Kentucky affiliate

    Los Angeles — CBRE Group announced that it has acquired CBRE | Louisville, a commercial real estate services firm that has served as CBRE’s affiliate in metropolitan Louisville, Kentucky and southern Indiana since 1996.

    The firm has a staff of 34 and manages more than 10 million sq. ft. in the region.

  • Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf inks Japan rollout deal

    Los Angeles — The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf has inked an exclusive deal with developer L.A. Style to expand the coffee and tea retailer into Japan by the end of this year.

    L.A. Style is a joint-venture partnership between fast-casual restaurateur Hotland Co. and Japan’s largest shopping mall developer Aeon Mall Co.
    The deal ultimately calls for 200 stores across Japan.

  • Dillard’s to Anchor Conway’s Central Landing

    Conway, Ark. -- The Central Landing retail development now underway in Conway, Arkansas, has added a well-established name as a key anchor for the development’s first phase. Will Wilson, president of Jim Wilson & Associates, LLC and the company’s partner, the Conway Development Corporation, announced the completion of a letter of intent with Dillard’s to become part of the Central Landing development.

    The Arkansas-based retailer will become an anchor for the development’s first phase.

  • Crate & Barrel searching for new CEO

    New York -- Sascha Bopp, CEO of Crate &and Barrel, has resigned. The retailer’s COO and CFO, Adrian Mitchell, has assumed interim leadership. A search is underway for a permanent replacement.

    “This position will concentrate on supporting the company’s evolving business strategy and include a deepened focus on the customer experience and growth in the digital space,” the company said in a statement.

  • Lids grows footprint with acquisition

    Genesco’s Lids division acquired wholesale team sports company Nashville Sporting Goods and its production affiliate National Team Embellishment, both headquartered in Nashville, Tenn.

  • TripAdvisor exec joins XO Group board

    New York - Barbara Messing, chief marketing officer of TripAdvisor, has been appointed to the XO Group board of directors and will serve as an independent director on the board's Compensation Committee. XO Group is parent company of wedding and pregnancy sites including The Bump, The Nest and The Knot.
