  • Report: Microsoft may open Manhattan store

    Redmond, Wash. – Microsoft Corp. is reportedly negotiating to open a new store on Fifth Avenue in Manhattan. According to the New York Daily News, the site is only a few blocks from Apple’s large “glass cube” store in New York.

  • Simon breaks ground on Gloucester Premium Outlets

    Indianapolis -- Simon, in concert with joint-venture partner PREIT-Rubin, has broken ground on Gloucester Premium Outlets in Gloucester Township, New Jersey, a multi-million dollar upscale outlet destination that will bring more than 80 retailers to the southern New Jersey market.

  • Trace One adds former Oracle exec as CMO

    Trace One, which provides solutions to branded and private-label goods companies, has added Chris Morrison as its chief marketing officer.
     
    In his new position, Morrison will oversee the company’s global communications, product strategies and marketing. He’ll be a part of the rollout of new Trace One solutions and assist in expanding the company’s global reach.
     

  • Barnes & Noble, Google partner on same-day book delivery

    New York – Barnes & Noble Inc. and Google Inc. are reportedly teaming up on a pilot of same-day delivery of book orders from local Barnes & Noble stores in several U.S. cities. According to the New York Times, customers in Manhattan, West Los Angeles, and the San Francisco Bay area can have online book orders fulfilled from nearby Barnes & Noble locations via the Google Shopping service.

    San Francisco -- Banana Republic in late August will extend its digital reach as part of a select group of brands partnering with Instagram on paid advertising — a first-time amplification for the brand on the platform.

  • Stein Mart marks ninth consecutive quarter of positive sales

    Stein Mart is marking its ninth consecutive quarter of positive sales. The company reported total sales of $75.3 million for July, a 0.9% increase from $74.6 in the prior year.

    The company has generated $298.1 million in total sales for the second quarter so far, a 2.5% increase from $290.9 in the year-ago period. Comparable-store sales have increased 1.3%.

  • Mobile buoys HSN sales in Q2

    Despite reporting a second-quarter sales increase of 5% and a digital sales increase of 9% — with mobile representing 15% of its total sales — HSN missed Wall Street expectations for its net income thanks to a 5% drop from $43.3 million a year earlier to $40.9 million for the quarter.

    Overall net sales grew 5% over the prior year to $855.2 million.

  • Tervis taps Demandware to enhance digital commerce

    Burlington, Mass. -- Demandware, a provider of enterprise cloud commerce solutions, announced that Tervis Tumbler Company selected the Demandware Commerce platform to enhance digital commerce operations, grow online revenue and expand internationally. Tervis signed with Demandware in second quarter 2014.
