  • Abercrombie & Fitch Q3 sales drop 12%, missing estimates

    New Albany, Ohio –- Abercrombie & Fitch reported net sales of $911.4 million for the third quarter of fiscal 2014, less than Wall Street forecast, down 12% from $1.03 billion in the year-ago period. The chain cited slowing mall traffic and weaker results in the latter part of the quarter.

  • RadioShack’s “Weird” holiday ad

    New York -- RadioShack has brought on rock parody singer Weird Al Yankovich to star in a holiday ad.   Yankovic is appearing in the chain's holiday campaign called "Gift Smart.” In the spot, he sings his own unique take on the holiday song  “Toyland.”   
  • Samsung ‘Gears’ up for wearable offers

    RetailMeNot reached an agreement with Samsung to be the exclusive digital offers provider on the new Samsung Gear S smartwatch.

    The new Gear S smartwatch goes on sale later this month and the RetailMeNot digital offers app will be the only one of its kind on the watch and it is the first time the RetailMeNot app has been integrated into a touchscreen wearable device.

  • Sprouts beats Street with Q3 profit

    Phoenix, Ariz. -- Net income at Sprouts Farmers Market Inc. soared 79% to $26.1 million in the third quarter of fiscal 2014 from $14.6 million in the same quarter a year earlier. A reduction in pretax losses helped boost net income growth.  
  • Study: Retailers will apply Big Data analytics on front end

    London, U.K. -- Analytics will be applied in front-end as well as back-end applications in retail. According to a new study from Frost & Sullivan, the aim of every retailer is to integrate data from multiple channels to provide an omnichannel experience for the customer.  
  • McCormick names seasoned exec to finance role

    Mike Smith was named SVP finance and CFO North America at McCormick.  In this role he will oversee investor relations, treasury and serve as the CFO of the newly formed North American Leadership Team. 

    Smith’s new team focuses on North American alignment and strategy for growth, performance and people. Joyce Brooks, VP, investor relations and Bob Conrad, VP treasurer will report directly to Smith. 

  • Texas gets its 80th Sam’s Club

    The Houston suburb of Richmond is home to Sam’s Club’s 80th location in Texas following the opening of a new unit there on Thursday, Nov. 6.

    Sam’s Club now operates 20 clubs in the sprawling Houston market and the 80 clubs the retailer operates in Texas account for more than 12% of the 643 Sam’s Clubs in operation nationwide as of September 30.
