  • LaVida Massage to open new center

    Marietta, Ga. -- LaVida Massage said it will open a new location in Marietta, Ga., on Lower Roswell Rd.

    The newest location is slated to open Oct. 1 in 3,000 sq. ft., and is owned and managed by Georgia Master Developers Terry Sharp and Duane Goodwin.

  • MSLO names SVP communications

    NEW YORK — Martha Stewart Living Omnimedia nnounced that Jeanne Meyer has joined the company as SVP communications. In this position, she will work closely with the senior management team to lead, develop and execute a comprehensive corporate communications strategy for the company's media and merchandising businesses. She will report to president and COO Lisa Gersh.

  • Safeway appoints chief medical officer

    PLEASANTON, Calif. — Safeway has appointed Kent Bradley as its new chief medical officer.

    In his new role, Bradley will be responsible for developing and guiding the company's extensive portfolio of health care programs including its employee and consumer wellness and prevention activities. Additionally, Bradley also will assist Safeway's Safeway Health subsidiary on a range of business initiatives, the company said. He will report to Safeway EVP and Safeway Health president Larree Renda.

  • Dick’s Sporting Goods opening stores in New York and Georgia

    Pittsburgh -- Dick’s Sporting Goods announced it is opening two stores this week, in Yonkers, N.Y., and Norcross, Ga.

    The Yonkers location will be the retailer's 32nd store in the state of New York and their 458th nationwide. The Norcross location will be the retailer's fifteenth store in the state of Georgia and their 459th nationwide.

     

  • Macy's boosts seasonal hiring in anticipation of holiday sales

    CINCINNATI — While research groups are predicting various results for holiday spending, such retailers as Macy's Inc. are hoping that expectations for increased spending will prove to be right and are boosting seasonal hiring in preparation. Macy’s Inc. said it plans to hire approximately 78,000 seasonal associates for its Macy’s and Bloomingdale’s stores, call centers, distribution centers and online fulfillment centers nationwide for the 2011 holiday season.

  • SRS Real Estate appoints Denver exec

    Dallas -- SRS Real Estate Partners has announced the hiring of Brian Hollenback as a VP in the Denver office. 

    Hollenback has been involved in over 2,000,000 sq. ft. of ground-up retail developments and has completed over 125 pad transactions throughout the Colorado market. He also has represented numerous national and regional retail and restaurants concepts as well as a variety of shopping center owners and developers in leasing their shopping centers.
     

  • Stater Bros. appoints SVP retail operations

    SAN BERNARDINO, Calif. — Stater Bros. has promoted its senior regional VP.

    The Southern California-based supermarket chain said that Dan Meyer, a 41-year company veteran, has been promoted to the newly created role of SVP retail operations. In this capacity, Meyer will be responsible for the retail operations of all 167 Stater Bros. stores, as well as overseeing the day-to-day operations of the Corporate Training Center. Meyer will report to George Frahm, EVP retail operations and administration.

  • RILA praises California ‘e-fairness’ legislation

    Arlington, Va. -- The Retail Industry Leaders Association (RILA) thanked California Governor Jerry Brown for signing legislation that would help level the playing field between online-only retailer Amazon.com and brick-and-mortar stores across California.
