    The architect of the reinvention of Domino's Pizza will become the next CEO of Toys"R"Us in July.

    David A. Brandon will succeed Antonio Urcelay, as he is retiring from the company.

    Brandon, 63, has deep experience in growing businesses, developing talent and building high-performance cultures that enable organizations to create and capture value.

  • NRF hires VP of research

    Washington, D.C. - The National Retail Federation (NRF) is hiring Mark Mathews as VP of research development and industry analysis. Mathews will develop, evaluate and direct research initiatives for NRF’s Retail Research and Analysis Center, which was announced in April.

    Mathews brings more than two decades of research strategy and management experience to his new post.

  • A.T. Kearney: China is top emerging retail market

    Chicago -- Retailers looking for opportunities in emerging markets should look East, particularly to China, which ranks as the top country in A.T. Kearney’s annual Global Retail Development Index (GRDI). China, which returns to number one in the GRDI rankings for the first time since 2010, is expected to surpass the United States as the world's largest retail market by 2018.

  • PepsiCo, UPS veteran to be new Walgreens CIO

    Walgreens Boots Alliance has appointed a PepsiCo and UPS veteran as its new CIO.  
  • Walgreens will keep headquarters in U.S.

    Deerfield, Ill. – Walgreens Boots Alliance plans to keep its headquarters in the U.S. and never went beyond the consideration stage of moving operations outside the U.S. in an “inversion” to reduce corporate taxes. At  the Walgreens annual shareholder meeting May 28, Walgreens chairman James Skinner said Walgreens headquarters will remain in Deerfield, Illinois.

  • Walgreens Boot Alliance CIO stepping down

    Deerfield, Ill. -- Walgreens Boots Alliance  announced Friday that Tim Theriault, the company's executive VP and global CIO, will step down for personal reasons, effective June 1. Theriault will continue to serve as a consultant to the company and as a senior advisor to executive vice chairman and acting CEO Stefano Pessina on a range of issues, including cyber security. Anthony Roberts, senior VP, international CIO, will  assume the role of senior VP, global CIO.

    Abercrombie & Fitch Co.'s revitalization efforts appear to be paying off, as the teen retailer says same store sales are rapidly improving.

  • Abercrombie loss widens as sales fall 14%; expects sales to improve

    New Albany, Ohio – Abercrombie & Fitch Co. posted a wider-than-expected loss and drop in revenue for its first quarter. But the teen apparel retailer, which is in the middle of a brand update to improve its controversial image, sounded a positive note, noting that its comparable sales continued to improve in May and that it expects sales to continue to improve in the second half.
