  • Dunkin’ Donuts expanding with former NFL players

    Dunkin’ Donuts has signed a multi-unit store development agreement with a franchise group led by two former NFL players.

    The chain said it has signed an agreement with Berliner III to develop 14 new restaurants in St. Louis and two new locations in Kansas City over the next several years. Berliner III is led by NFL greats and former University of Nebraska football players Kris Brown and Zach Wiegert, who have teamed up with David Scott to develop a third market.

  • All e-commerce is local at Urban Decay

    Specialty cosmetics retailer Urban Decay is making its e-commerce site as accessible as possible to as many customers as possible.

    Urban Decay has integrated e-Spirit's FirstSpirit content management system (CMS) with a Demandware e-commerce platform. The CMS allows Urban Decay to manage the proliferation of content, then localize that content for each individual site the retailer operates internationally, through a feature called "UD All Access.” Urban Decay worked with e-commerce services provider OSF Global Services to launch the new feature.

    Black Friday may not be what it used to be in the United States, but the tradition has caught on big time across the pond, according to a report by the New York Times.

    The BBC reported that shoppers in different parts of the country experienced gridlock, biting, pinching, punching, kicking and merchandise flying through the air as shoppers leapt over barriers to get their hands on heavily discounted items, the report said.

  • Canadian furniture retailer sets its sights on the U.S.

    Just in time for Black Friday, Structube, a leading Canadian retailer of modern furniture, has launched its e-commerce site in the United States.

    In addition to its online platform, Structube, which operates 47 stores in Canada, plans to open stores across the United States, starting in 2016.

    Structube specializes in contemporary style furniture, and offers “high style/low priced” pre-assembled and easy-to-assemble products. The company says it caters to young professionals, condo dwellers and small businesses.

  • Partnership acquires pair of grocery-anchored centers in same-day transaction

    X Team International announced that Mountain West Retail and Investment and Newmark Grubb ACRES completed sales of two grocery-anchored properties same-day.

    Canyon Center, a 51,914-sq.-ft. property in Sandy, Utah, is anchored by Smith’s and Shopko; the seller was Dee’s Inc., a third generation, family-owned real estate company, and the buyer was Pacific Castle, a Southern California-based institutional investor.

  • Saks Off 5th continuing Canadian expansion

    Saks Fifth Avenue Off 5th is making progress in its plans to open up to 25 locations across Canada by 2018.

    The retailer announced three new locations in Canada: Toronto Premium Outlets, Halton Hills, Ontario; Rideau Street, Ottawa, Ontario; and Premium Outlets Montreal, Mirabel, Quebec City.
