  • Levi's taps former Coach exec for VP design role

    San Francisco -- Levi's announced that it has named Walker MacWilliam as its new global head of men's design. As VP design for the Levi's brand, MacWilliam will be responsible for the design and development of all Levi's men's product categories globally.

    MacWilliam joins Levi Strauss & Co. from Coach where his responsibilities included the conceptualization, design and development for all categories of men's and women's including wearables, bags and accessories.

  • Destination Maternity names president

    Philadelphia -- Destination Maternity Corp. announced the hiring of Chris Daniel as its president, effective June 1.

    Daniel will report directly to Ed Krell, CEO, and will have responsibility for all merchandising, design, marketing, visual, sourcing and branding functions of the company. In connection with the hiring of Daniel, Krell, who held the additional title of president on a temporary basis since the departure of the company's former president, will relinquish that title.

    Rose Paving Co., a leader in national parking lot management, has been selected once again as one of the "2011 Best Places to Work in Illinois."

  • Men's Wearhouse succession plan: Founder Zimmer to step down as CEO

    Houston -- Men's Wearhouse announced Monday that company president and COO Douglas S. Ewert will succeed founder George Zimmer as president and COO, effective June 15.

    According to the retailer, the transition is part of a previously announced succession plan.

    Ewert, 47, has been nominated by the board to be elected as a director of the company at the annual shareholder meeting and will be included in the list of nominees in the proxy statement for consideration by the shareholders.

  • Wal-Mart to pay $440K in ethnic harassment suit

    New York City -- Wal-Mart Stores has agreed to pay $440,000 to settle a federal harassment lawsuit by 10 employees who say they endured ethnic slurs and derogatory remarks on a daily basis while working at a Sam's Club store in Fresno, Calif. The EEOC announced the settlement Thursday.

    Nine of the lawsuit plaintiffs were of Mexican descent and one was married to a Mexican. The alleged harasser was a Mexican-American co-worker.

  • Hispanic hate costs Sam’s Club $440,000

    The Equal Opportunity Employment Commission announced that Sam’s Club would pay a $440,000 fine to settle a harassment lawsuit involving Hispanics at a club in Fresno, Calif.

  • Home Depot pledges $30 million to veterans’ housing

    Atlanta -- The charitable arm of The Home Depot pledged $30 million over three years to address veterans' housing issues. The pledge starts with the donation of $3.1 million to Fisher House Foundation, The Mission Continues and Volunteers of America to repair and rehabilitate facilities and homes serving veterans.

    Home Depot employees also will volunteer to help on projects for all three organizations.
