  • Wal-Mart CEO outlines priorities at annual meeting

    New York City -- Wal-Mart Stores on Friday morning kicked off its annual shareholders meeting in Fayetteville, Ark., by announcing a $15 billion stock buyback.

    Among the early speakers was Doug McMillon, chief of Wal-Mart Stores' international division, who told the audience that the chain is building sales around the world by using the same retailing style that company founder Sam Walton developed.

  • Macy's celebrates LGBT pride in June

    NEW YORK — Macy's has announced a number of initiatives in support of LGBT pride month this June. 

    Macy's "Pride and Joy" campaign will feature a multitude of in-store fashion events, commemorative advertising and window displays, pride merchandise in select stores, gift registry booths for couples in key cities, celebrity appearances, as well as sponsorship and employee participation in pride parades across the country.

  • Sears grants empower Hispanic business owners

    HOFFMAN ESTATES, Ill. — Sears Holdings has announced the winner of its "Tu Empresa, Tu Futuro/Your Company, Your Future Business" grant competition, which provides grants to Hispanic small business owners.

    The four $5,000 grants were awarded to:

    • Tayde Aburto, The Hispanic Chamber of E-Commerce

    • Jennifer Burrell, The Frock Shop

    • Elizabeth Tarpley, Targeted Tech Solutions

    • Kristen Harris, Party Palette

  • Molson Coors names new chairman

    DENVER, Colo. and MONTREAL — Molson Coors Brewing Company has announced that Andrew Molson, the current vice chairman of the Molson Coors board of directors assumed the role of chairman, and Pete Coors, current chairman, assumed the role of vice chairman, effective May 26. 

  • Footwear chain confirms female CEO

    Leader footwear retailer Brown Shoes Company officially has a new president and CEO following its annual shareholders’ meeting. Diane Sullivan was named to both roles back in January, but the company implemented the change gradually as Sullivan assumed responsibilities from Ronald Fromm, who will continue to serve as chairman of the company best known for its Famous Footwear and Naturalizer store banner.

  • At shareholders meeting, Lowe's embraces change

    At its annual meeting, Lowe’s chairman and CEO Robert A. Niblock continued to hammer on the theme of transformation at the nation's second-largest home center chain.

    “Making home improvement simple for customers starts with making it simple for our employees by providing them with the right technology and resources,” said Niblock. “Throughout our 65-year history, Lowe’s has changed many times. To be successful in the future, we must transform the shopping experience for customers wherever and however they choose to shop with Lowe’s.”

  • Jones Lang LaSalle names corporate solutions CEO

    Chicago — Jones Lang LaSalle announced it has appointed Tod Lickerman as CEO of the firm’s Americas Corporate Solutions business.  

    Lickerman, formerly CEO of the Commercial Solutions group, assumes the role effective immediately.  Stuart Hicks, who previously held the CEO for Corporate Solutions role, will assume a new role as President, Strategic Clients, focused on integrating client solutions.

  • Panasonic names head marketer

    SECAUCUS, N.J. — Panasonic Corporation of North America has appointed Betty Noonan to lead its marketing and branding functions. Noonan, who was most recently VP and director of Kodak's worldwide consumer marketing operations, will be responsible for integrating the company's marketing and enhancing the Panasonic brand.
