  • Walmart salutes veterans with $1 million grant

    The Walmart Foundation is funding a three-year initiative to identify new ways in which the non-profit, public and private sectors can better work together to serve veterans. 

    The $1 million initiative is called Welcome Home North Carolina, and it will operate under the guidance of the Institute for Veterans and Military Families, a New York-based organization that solves issues facing former service personnel and their families. Among the institute’s responsibilities will be distributing the $1 million.

  • Nordstrom names MetricStream exec to board

    Seattle – Nordstrom Inc. has named Shellye L. Archambeau, CEO of GRC/quality management software provider MetricStream Inc., to the company's board of directors. Her addition brings the total number of directors to 13, 10 of whom serve as independent directors.

  • With Q4 profit up, Wolverine focusing on omnichannel and global expansion

    Rockford, Mich. -- Wolverine Worldwide posted fourth-quarter net income of $10.7 million, following a $1.7 million loss for the year-ago period. The company said it is increasing its brand-building investments in 2015, focusing on omnichannel initiatives and international expansion.

  • Food Lion recognizes top talent

    Rhonda Mauldin was selected from more than 1,100 Food Lion store managers for the retailer’s highest honor.

    Mauldin, who is the store manager of the Food Lion located at 1004 W. Georgia Road in Simpsonville, S.C., is Food Lion’s 2014 Store Manager of the Year.

  • Ascena Retail Group names CFO

    Mahwah, N.J. -- Ascena Retail Group has appointed Robb Giammatteo to serve as CFO. He joined Ascena in 2013, as senior VP of financial planning and analysis and investor relations.

  • P&G board adds ex-CEO of Home Depot

    Procter & Gamble Co. has added the former CEO and chairman of Home Depot Inc. to its board of directors.

    Francis Blake, 65, joins the board efefctive immediately.

    The move comes just a few days after his retirement as chairman of Home Depot. He stepped down from the CEO position in November.
