  • Macy's urges youth to 'DoSomething' in new campaign

    NEW YORK — Macy's announced that it is partnering with DoSomething.org to encourage students to make a difference in their communities. Launching on Aug. 8, the initiative will connect young people across the country with DoSomething.org and provide them volunteer opportunities in their area, the company reported.

  • The hits keep coming for P&G and Walmart

    The seventh installment in the Family Movie Night entertainment initiative between Procter & Gamble and Walmart is set to air this Saturday at 8 p.m. on NBC. The made-for-TV movie, Who is Simon Miller?, is billed as a heart-pounding summer spy drama that tests the limits to which families will fight for each other that will keep the whole family riveted.

  • Walmart gives $500K for ecosystem rejuvenation

    BENTONVILLE, Ark. — Walmart announced that through its Acres for America program it is donating $500,000 to help protect, conserve and restore fragile urban ecosystems in Washington D.C., Chicago, Los Angeles, and New York City. 

  • Fresh & Easy adds natural gas vehicles to its fleet

    El Segundo, Calif. -- Fresh & Easy Neighborhood Market has added 25 compressed natural gas (CNG) vehicles to its distribution fleet as part of a partnership with Ryder System. The new vehicles produce 20% to 30% less emissions than comparable diesel vehicles and are part of the company’s ongoing efforts to reduce emissions.

  • GMA names food safety leader

    WASHINGTON — The Grocery Manufacturers Association has named George Dunaif, Ph.D., DABT, VP food safety and technical services.

    Dunaif most recently served as VP global food safety at Campbell Soup. In that role, he was responsible for the company’s worldwide food safety function, including toxicology, microbiology, process safety and analytical chemistry. He also served as vice-chairman of the Campbell corporate crisis management team.

    PITTSBURGH — Dick's Sporting Goods announced that it has created a new program to help combat concussions in youth sports.

  • REI invests in the great outdoors to the tune of $4.2M

    SEATTLE  — Recreational Equipment Inc. announced that it plans to give $4.2 million this year to nonprofits across the country that work to preserve and maintain natural spaces through active volunteer programs.
