  • Interbrand report: Walmart most valuable retail brand in the world

    Dayton, Ohio – Walmart is the most valuable retail brand in North America, with a brand value estimated at $131.8 billion, according to Interbrand's "Best Retail Brands" report. The retail powerhouse maintains its number one spot and, even with a 6% decline in brand value, it retains an enormous margin over its closest competitor Target, whose brand value is put at $27.1 billion, an 8% increase over 2013.

  • Home Depot named EPA Energy Star partner of the year

    Atlanta -- The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has named The Home Depot as a 2014 Energy Star Partner of the Year – Sustained Excellence for its outstanding contribution to reducing greenhouse gas emissions through promotion of energy-efficient products. The Home Depot, an Energy Star partner since 2001, will be honored for its leadership in its long-term commitment to energy efficiency through promotion of energy-efficient products that earn the Energy Star, the government-backed symbol of energy efficiency.

  • Rite Aid gets URAC accreditation in specialty pharmacy

    Rite Aid has been awarded specialty pharmacy accreditation from URAC, a Washington, D.C.-based health care accreditation organization that establishes quality standards for the health care industry.

  • Hormel Foods honors 90 suppliers

    Hormel Foods Corporation recently awarded 90 suppliers with a 2013 Spirit of Excellence Award for their roles in the company’s continuous improvement process throughout the last year. These suppliers are from a variety of areas, including contractors, pork procurement, provisions, ingredients, packaging and transportation.

  • Retailers and CPG companies win top EPA awards

    Best Buy, Staples, Home Depot, 3M and Colgate-Palmolive were among the many retailer and CPG companies to be recognized by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and the U.S. Department of Energy as recipients of the 2014 Energy Star Partner of the Year Award.

    A total of 127 companies were received the Energy Star Partner of the Year distinction and were selected from a total of 16,000 Energy Start partners overall in the areas of manufacturing, retailing, public schools, hospitals, real estate companies and home builders.

  • Staples online competition yields big response

    Framingham, Mass. -- Staples is letting the public help determine the top three winners of its “Make Your Idea Happen” contest, which allowed entrepreneurs to share their ideas for a chance to receive all the products they need to bring their business to life. The retailer received more than 16,000 entries online and via Facebook.

    The contest was announced in early January, and entrants were asked to submit a 100 word or less overview of their idea. Staples narrowed the submissions down to 10 finalists.
