Macy’s CEO named Father of the Year
NEW YORK — Chairman, president and CEO of Macy’s Terry J. Lundgren will be one of three men honored at the 72nd annual Father of the Year awards luncheon to be held Tuesday, June 11, at the Grand Hyatt New York Hotel.
Lundgren will be in the company of President Bill Clinton, founder of the William J. Clinton Foundation and the nation’s 42nd Commander-in-Chief, and Major Jackson Drumgoole II, who served four tours in Iraq.
The National Father’s Day Council will honor these three fathers for their success in balancing accomplished careers and the demands of fatherhood. Proceeds of the event will benefit Save the Children.
The recipients were chosen by the National Father's Day Committee, which is part of the Father's Day/Mother's Day Council, a nonprofit association whose mission it is to recognize and award honors to role model fathers and mothers, while at the same time contributing to issues affecting the life and well-being of men, women and families.
Past honorees have included presidents Dwight D. Eisenhower, John F. Kennedy and Ronald Reagan, generals Douglas MacArthur, Colin Powell and Norman Schwarzkopf, sports notables Shaquille O’Neal, George Forman and Steve Young, and communications leaders Tim Russert and Brian Williams.
