  • Hey y’all! Paula Deen comes to Bentonville

    Food Network personality Paula Deen may not have a reputation for healthy cooking, but that’s not stopping her from traveling to Walmart’s hometown this weekend to participate in American Heart Association activities and receive a key to the city.

    Deen and her husband Michael Groover will accept the key to Bentonville from Mayor Bob McCaslin on Friday afternoon and later in the evening Deen will guest at a kick-off event and reception supporting the American Heart Association’s Southwest Chapter.

    WEST CHESTER, Pa. — QVC and the Fashion Footwear Association of New York have announced a $140,000 grant to fund research at The Wistar Institute on a specific and deadly form of breast cancer called triple negative.

    ELMWOOD PARK, N.J. — The Craft & Hobby Association (CHA) today announced the appointment of Kerri Wickersheim as vice president of Marketing & Communications effective April 1.   • Taxes a certainty for online sellers

    WASHINGTON — The days of online retailers getting an unfair advantage by not having to comply with state tax laws are numbered as the U.S. Senate has just passed the marketplace fairness amendment as part of the fiscal 2014 budget resolution.

    In response, the National Retail Federation released the following statement from President and CEO Matthew Shay:

  • Walmart expenses manager to speak at women's network event

    CHICAGO — The Network of Executive Women has unveiled its "2012 Annual Report," which features the personal stories of 10 network members, who explain how their engagement with NEW changed their companies, careers and lives.

    Among those featured are Kim Tisdale, manager of expense payables at Wal-Mart Stores, and Chris Albi, VP merchandising at Kroger.

  • ICSC applauds adoption of Marketplace Fairness Amendment in Senate

    New York -- The International Council of Shopping Centers on Friday applauded the adoption of an amendment to the fiscal year 2014 Senate Budget Resolution. The amendment gives states the authority – if they so choose – to require online sellers to collect sales taxes just like brick-and-mortar retailers already do.

    BOCA RATON, Fla. — Office Depot was named to the 2012 list of America’s Top Corporations for Women’s Business Enterprises by Women’s Business Enterprise National Council (WBENC). This marks the eleventh year that Office Depot has been included on the selective list.
