Blue Apron is expanding a successful pilot with a well-known online delivery platform.

The leading meal kit delivery service is partnering with DoorDash to deliver its “Heat & Eat” meals, which are prepared, single-serving meals that are ready in five minutes or less, to 11 markets that include New York City. In addition to New York City, Blue Apron’s Heat & Eat meals are available for delivery in eligible cities in New Jersey, Virginia, Illinois, Maryland, Ohio and Pennsylvania.

Initially launched by DoorDash in August 2020, DashMart offers both household essentials and local restaurant products for on-demand delivery. DoorDash partners with national and local convenience, grocery and food service retailers to stock DashMart’s assortment, but the stores are owned, operated, and curated by DoorDash.

Blue Apron customers in eligible markets can purchase Heat & Eat meals on the DoorDash site. The company has also been expanding the availability of its meal kits via other third-party partnerships. For example, it recently debuted Blue Apron Plus, a  savings program being offered exclusively on the Verizon +play platform. Verizon built +play as a single solution for customers to shop for, manage and save on subscriptions. Blue Apron is the first and only meal-kit provider available on the +play platform to date.

Blue Apron Plus acts as a monthly subscription offering, managed through the +play platform for Verizon customers. Participating customers will have access to exclusive savings on meal kit subscriptions, including 35% off their first five eligible meal kit orders, then 15% off each eligible order after that.

And in summer 2022, Blue Apron launched a new offering as a third-party seller on Walmart.com that lets consumers purchase a selection of meal kits without a subscription.

Boxes sold via Walmart Marketplace are directly fulfilled by Blue Apron. The company is the first and only meal kit provider on the Walmart Marketplace e-commerce platform.

“The expansion of our partnership with DashMart by DoorDash into additional markets follows a successful pilot program that we launched in Philadelphia last year,” said John Adler, Blue Apron senior VP of physical product. “These types of strategic partnerships are an important market opportunity for us to expand our reach and provide customers with access to our products without a subscription. We’re committed to providing them with even more convenient ways to bring Blue Apron into their kitchens each week.”

Launched in 2012, Blue Apron is a carbon-neutral company offering fresh, chef-designed recipes for home preparation.
