Bloomberg: American Dream almost 90% leased

The long-delayed and now partially-open American Dream retail and entertainment mega-center has apparently not had trouble attracting tenants.

Developers have leased almost 90% of the center’s available 3.3 million sq. ft., a figure which rises to nearly 100% when leases under negotiation are included, reported Bloomberg, which cited a filing. Notable, all the retail anchor stores have been spoken for.

To date, the center, located in East Rutherford, N.J., and owned by Triple Five Group of Canada, has opened three major attractions: Nickelodeon Universe; The Rink, an NHL regulation size ice rink; and BIG Snow, an indoor ski and snowboard park. Also open: It’Sugar, a three-level, 22,000-sq.-ft. store billed as the “world’s first department store of candy.”

The long-awaited retail component of the mall is due to open in March with about 450 businesses.
