As a group, retail real estate developers pooh-pooh the notion of physical retail going downhill — except, now, for one.

Triple Five’s Don Ghermezian this week debuted the nation’s first indoor ski slope using real snow at its American Dream mega-center in the New Jersey Meadowlands. And a really great skier, Olympian Lindsey Vonn, was there to make the opening run.

Big Snow provides ideal snow conditions year-round within climate-controlled slopes. The 180,000-sq.-ft. slope offers lessons, corporate team building outings, and an Alpine village where indoor shussers can shop ski and snowboard hard goods and apparel.

Big Snow is operated by New Jersey-based Snow Operating, which also owns and operates Mountain Creek Resort in Vernon, NJ.
