BJ’s expanding in Georgia

BJ’s Wholesale Club will open its 237th location on Feb.

BJ’s Wholesale Club continues to grow its footprint.

The membership warehouse club retailer will open a store in McDonough, Ga., on Feb. 24. It will be BJ’s sixth location in the Peachtree State, for a total of 237 U.S. clubs overall. The new club will have a BJ's Gas location on-site.

The new outpost in Georgia follows the opening last week of a BJ’s club in Davenport, Fla., its 36th location in the state. (BJ’s is also planning to enter the state of Alabama, according to townmadison.com.)

Earlier this month, the company announced plans to open its first location in the state of Tennessee by the first half of the year. Located in La Vergne, some 20 miles southeast of downtown Nashville, the store will mark BJ’s 19th state of operation.

As with every BJ’s, the new locations will offer a variety of digital shopping options, including curbside pickup, in-club pickup, same-day delivery and standard delivery. When shopping in-club, members can use BJ’s to scan products as they shop to avoid the checkout line.

BJ’s donates unsold perishable food to Feeding America member food banks in its footprint, helping to get wholesome food onto the plates of families. In McDonough, BJ’s foodbank partner is the Atlanta Community Food Bank. To date, BJ’s has donated more than 140 million pounds of food including meat, produce, dairy, and bakery items to Feeding America member food banks.

“Our Atlanta Community Food Bank team is incredibly grateful that we have developed a partnership with BJ’s Wholesale Club to support the McDonough community,” said president and CEO of Atlanta Community Food Bank, Kyle Waide. “Through these critical partnerships, we’re able to help our neighbors in need and provide access to basics such as nutritious meals, which are vital to those we serve in McDonough. With BJ’s support, we know we’ll be able to provide to even more in our community.”

Headquartered in Marlborough, Mass., BJ’s pioneered the warehouse club model in New England in 1984. The company currently operates 236 clubs and 165 BJ’s Gas locations in 18 states.
