BJ’s beats Wall Street on Q2 profit, revenue; new Texas store to open

BJ's will open a new store in Tyler, Texas.

BJ’s Wholesale Club Holdings reported strong earnings and sales results for the second quarter of fiscal 2026 and announced plans for a new store.

The membership warehouse club giant exceeded Wall Street expectations with adjusted net income of $173.87 billion, up 15% from $150.7 billion in the second quarter of fiscal 2025. Adjusted earnings per share (EPS) rose to $1.36 from $1.14 and total revenue climbed 16% to $6.23 billion from $5.38 billion.

Same-store sales rose 9.2% compared to the same period in fiscal 2025. Excluding the impact of gasoline sales, same-store sales increased by 3.1% compared to the same period in fiscal 2025. Membership fee income increased about 10% to $135.6 million in the second quarter of fiscal 2026 compared to $123.3 million in the second quarter of fiscal 2025

Wall Street analysts had expected adjusted EPS of $1.17 and total revenue of $5.7 billion. BJ’s continued momentum from a generally strong first quarter of fiscal 2026, when earnings per share and total revenue also beat Wall Street forecasts.

Guidance

BJ’s provided an updated outlook for fiscal 2026 that included a forecast of same-store sales, excluding gasoline, to increase 2 to 3% year over year and adjusted EPS in the range of $4.60 to $4.80.

"Our second quarter results reflect strong execution and continued momentum in the business,” said Laura Felice, executive VP, CFO, BJ's Wholesale Club. “We delivered solid profitability, grew membership fee income, and outperformed on gas — all of which enabled us to raise our full year adjusted EPS guidance. We remain confident in our ability to deliver sustainable, profitable growth."

Headquartered in Marlborough, Mass., the company launched in New England in 1984 and currently operates 267 stores and 206 BJ's Gas locations in 22 states.
