Best Buy kicks off holiday promotions; to shut stores on Thanksgiving
Best Buy Co. Inc. is offering holiday discounts and services through the end of December, and will give store associates a Thanksgiving break.
The consumer electronics giant is launching its “Member Mondays” program for members of the Totaltech and My Best Buy membership programs. Almost every week through the holidays, Best Buy Totaltech and My Best Buy members will have exclusive access to seasonal deals.

On select Mondays, Totaltech members will have exclusive access to some hard-to-find holiday gifts. Totaltech members have access to exclusive deals every day, all year long, and My Best Buy members will have opportunities to obtain exclusive deals throughout the holiday season.
Starting Tuesday, Oct. 11, Best Buy is hosting a 48-hour flash sale, with hundreds of deals on select technology items. Any gifts purchased Oct. 24 through Dec. 31 can be returned through Jan. 14.
Best Buy will begin offering Black Friday deals on Monday, Oct. 24. The retailer’s official Black Friday sale starts Sunday, Nov. 20, with early access for Totaltech members on Thursday, Nov. 17 and for My Best Buy members on Friday, Nov. 18. Holiday cyber deals start Sunday, Nov. 27 and the “20 Days of Deal” promotion launches Tuesday, Nov. 29.
Extended store hours, Thanksgiving closures
Best Buy is extending its store hours during the holiday season. Starting Sunday, Oct. 30, Best Buy stores will be open from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m., Monday through Saturday, and 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Sunday. Best Buy stores will be closed on Thanksgiving, but customers can still shop digitally on BestBuy.com or through the Best Buy app.
Hiring for the holidays
This year, Best Buy kicked off its holiday hiring in August by hosting job fairs in various cities across the country. Currently, the retailer is still in the process of hiring thousands of seasonal employees to work temporary roles in stores and distribution centers.
Over the last three years, Best Buy has increased its average wage rate more than 20% by raising its starting wage to $15/hour, and has also shifted some of the employees into higher-skilled and higher-paying roles. The average hourly wage at Best Buy is more than $18/hour in 2022.
Digital gift assistance
Best Buy is also offering some digital help for customers attempting to select the right gifts. A refreshed Gift Center is coming to the Best Buy site on Tuesday, Oct. 11 at BestBuy.com/giftideas, featuring curated gift lists with inspiration for recipient categories including family members, foodies, content creators, and gamers.
The retailer is also providing a new digital toy guide, featuring the latest toy items, as well as an online toy finder tool.
And starting Sunday, Oct. 16, Best Buy kicks off its 10th holiday season participating in the “Thanks and Giving” campaign for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. The retailer accepts contributions in stores, on BestBuy.com, and in other ways.
