Amazon is increasing its financial commitment to support artificial intelligence and cloud technologies in northwest Louisiana.

The online giant plans to invest $18 billion to build what it calls state-of-the-art data center campuses that will support cloud computing technologies across Caddo and Bossier parishes in Louisiana and a third planned campus in Shreveport. This adds $6 billion and another campus to a $12 billion data center construction project Amazon announced for Caddo and Bossier parishes in February 2026.

"When we announced our investment in northwest Louisiana earlier this year, we made a promise: Amazon pays its own way, and the communities where we operate will be better off because we're there," said Keith Klein, director of data center supply solutions at Amazon. "Increasing our planned investment to $18 billion means more good jobs for the region and more opportunities for local businesses. We're building in a way that protects ratepayers and strengthens this community for the long term."

When fully built out, the three planned campuses are expected to create up to 750 full-time jobs at Amazon data centers and support 2,500 additional positions in the broader community. These roles include electricians, HVAC technicians, project engineers, network specialists, operations managers, security specialists, and other skilled positions.

Amazon is partnering with Stack Infrastructure, the developer and owner of all three campuses, to lead the construction and development of the data center facilities. Stack anticipates the three planned campuses will support up to 2,250 construction jobs.

The company says it will fully fund the infrastructure needed to power its data center operations in Louisiana at no cost to local ratepayers. Amazon continues to work with Southwestern Electric Power Company (SWEPCO) to pay 100% of the costs associated with new energy infrastructure and grid upgrades required to serve its data centers.

Amazon also opened an advanced robotics fulfillment center in Shreveport in 2024 and a new fast delivery station in 2025.

Amazon says it will soon launch new workforce development programs designed to build a pipeline of skilled local talent for the roles created by this investment. The company is working with local educational institutions, technical colleges, and community organizations. Since 2010, Amazon says it has invested more than $6 billion in Lousiana, including infrastructure and compensation to employees.
