Amazon expands Buy with Prime benefits

Buy with Prime
Amazon is timing new Buy with Prime features for holiday shoppers.

Amazon is offering new shopping benefits to Prime members using its “Buy with Prime” service – just in time for the holidays.

In April 2022, Amazon introduced “Buy with Prime,” which enables U.S.-based Prime members to directly shop online stores on its third-party marketplace. Initially, the feature was only available for third-party retailers using the Fulfillment by Amazon (FBA) hosted logistics service.

Since then, the e-tailer has made Buy with Prime widely available to U.S.-based Amazon retailers, integrated it with the BigCommerce and Shopify e-commerce platforms, and added cart functionality for customers and 24/7 post-order customer service support for sellers.

In its latest upgrade to the solution, Amazon is now letting customers track their Buy with Prime orders in their Amazon account on the Amazon site or mobile app, get 24/7 live chat customer service for their Buy with Prime orders, and return eligible Buy with Prime orders at an expanded selection of drop-off locations, with no shipping box or label required.

More details on each new customer benefit follow:

  • Prime members can now view and track orders placed on brands’ sites that offer Buy with Prime using their Amazon account, in the same place they can check non-Prime orders, both on the Amazon site and in the Amazon mobile app.
  • Amazon is providing Prime members access to customer service it provides on behalf of Buy with Prime merchants. Shoppers can use a live chat feature on their order detail page, where they are connected with trained Amazon representatives to get round-the-clock, human-assisted customer service for their Buy with Prime orders.
  • Prime members can also take advantage of the regular Amazon returns process for eligible items they purchased using Buy with Prime directly on brands’ sites. This includes choosing from an expanded number of convenient drop-off sites including UPS Store locations, Whole Foods Market, Amazon Fresh, and Amazon Go stores, without boxing up or labeling items. Prime members can bring the item in the manufacturer’s original packaging and the QR code generated after starting their return to their selected drop-off location, with no box or label required.
  • Finally, shoppers can now see authentic reviews from Amazon, including the Amazon star rating, on off-Amazon product pages for participating brands that offer Buy with Prime.

“We continue to innovate our Buy with Prime offering so that Prime members get access to an expanded selection and a convenient shopping experience, even when shopping beyond Amazon.com,” said Peter Larsen, Amazon VP of Buy with Prime. “Just in time for the holiday season, we’re excited to roll out new Buy with Prime features that Prime members will love, including hassle-free returns and world-class customer service.”
